Bottle… Hazy golden mead with good legwork. The aroma offers loads of raw ginger with an undercurrent of wildflower honey. Medium-bodied and watery. The flavor is very spicy-gingery, lightly acidic and disappointingly thin. Finishes bone-dry with a gentle kiss of that raw ginger burn commonly found in Jamaican ginger beers. This is not my kind of mead. Bottle courtesy of KickInChalice!
(187ml bottle) Pours a clear yellow body with descent legs. Aroma of ginger, citrus, honey, soap, and florals. Flavor of ginger, orange, honey, and soap with a dry finish. hirigalzkar (3133) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 25, 2012
Bottle. Pours golden. No head. Indeed very dry. Also very spicy and soapy. Where is the sweetness? Not at all traditional, nor drinkable. Sammy (12099) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 24, 2011
Another good Kuhnhenn mead. Citrussy, and like a dry wine. A hint of sugar in the finish. Nice. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 26, 2011
(187ml bottle from Epic Mead Tasting 2011, thanks in part to blutt59 and Mora2000) clear gold, no lacing, a bit of glass coating. Nose of ginger, orange peel, lemon peel, honey and cinnamon. Taste is watery and thin, ginger, umami, spicy, and more water. Just not very good. One of the worst meads of the evening amongst 20 total meads.

Thanks to blutt59 and thirdeye11 for going in with me on 16 Kuhnhenn meads. This was part of an epic 20 mead tasting.
Of all the meads tasted, this is the only one that missed the boat. Pours a yellow color. The aroma is a mix of ginger and orange citrus notes, as expected from the name. The flavor is where things start to be a little off. I get some citrus and ginger, but for some reason the flavor makes me think of shampoo. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Bottle courtesy the great mead trade of 2011. (thirdeye11, blutt59, mora2000.) Pours a light golden color. Aroma is ginger spice, shampoo, soap and shiner ruby redbird. Flavor is fat ginger, super bitter and unflavorful with a bitter soapy finish. Not good. JaBier (7871) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUL 26, 2011
Glass at Kuhnhenn. Clear orange pour with no carbonation and no legs. Lovely aroma of ginger and orange popsicle. Ginger flavor along with dry white wine before an orangy finish. Still not in love with the flavor of dry meads, although this one is nicely done. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 1, 2011
medium murky straw... smells like candied ginger, strong and tart, interesting... omg this is god awful, chemical ginger, no sweetness, one of the worst Kuhnhenn meads I’ve had. MeadMe (1652) - Fishhawk, Florida, USA - MAR 22, 2011
A: Pours a nice light yellow hue, thick enough to cling to the glass.
S: Aromas of floral honey, mild citrus, and a splash of ginger.
T: Love Kuhnhenn mead but this is not one of my favorites. Very dry with ginger up front. Mildly citric but more pith than fresh fruit or zest. The ginger is there but once again does not really stand out.
M: Medium in body, smooth and very dry.
Glad to have tried it not once I will seek out again.
