The Duvil in Miss Jones is a Sour Belgian Golden Ale. Brewed as an homage to the world-class Duvel, but with a twist, as in a lemony acidity that provides just enough tartness without being overbearing. The tart notes also help mask the alcohol, at 8.5% ABV.

We cellared this brew for 2 years after bottling, releasing it at the Winter Solstice Celebration this past December 2014.

Bottle... Poured golden/amber with an off-white head. Not sure what this one was supposed to be. Mostly Belgian yeast spices and esters. Some malt sweetness and light fruits. Honey sweetness, the aroma of cooking jello, pepper spice, and herbal earthiness.

Live rate: 14 karat pour with a razor thin white head that leaves quickly. Nose of Belgian yeast, candied fruit, peppery spice and honey baked biscuit. Flavor similar...quite sweet with lots of caramel & toffee. High ABV is a bit noticeable.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy copper color with medium off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy citrus tropical and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & tart flavor with a medium tart finish of moderate duration. Very strange brew.

Hazy golden body with a white lace head. Smells of candy sugar. Body follows with an added bit o’s yeast coming through as well

Dcschiller thanks! Hazy, dark gold. White head. Yeasty, fruity nose. Flavor is tart, light fruit, yeast. Infected?

Bottle courtesy of mikem409 and shared at the 17th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 1/28/12. Pours a hazy straw color with a thin tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of sweet malts, yeast and an almost corny note, The taste is big tropical fruits, yeast, and bread. Definite canned fruit quality, which I can’t stand. Medium bodied. Disappointed by this one.

Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Light gold, decent head, Richnond 17th. Lightly sour citrus aroma. Flavor is a match. Not bad, but didn’t do much either.

Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Sampled at the Richmond 17th Gathering. 2011. Slightly hazy gold pour with good ring of whtie head. Slightly lemony sweet nose. A little sweet funk on the flavor. Good orange zest on the tail. Crisp. Pretty good.

Dogbrick (13006) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. Clear dark golden pour with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of peppery yeast and caramel malt. Medium body with flavors of yeast, pepper, wheat and malt. The finish is sweet with a yeast and fruit aftertaste. As a Duvel clone it falls short, but still a decent brew.

Tap at Pony with Streets and Paul last night. Pours light orange/amber. Not much of an aroma. Some dried fruit, belgian yeast and surprising bitterness on the palate. Not a huge fan, but it wasn’t bad.
