The Duvil in Miss Jones is a Sour Belgian Golden Ale. Brewed as an homage to the world-class Duvel, but with a twist, as in a lemony acidity that provides just enough tartness without being overbearing. The tart notes also help mask the alcohol, at 8.5% ABV.

We cellared this brew for 2 years after bottling, releasing it at the Winter Solstice Celebration this past December 2014.

12 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Nose hints at a cloyingly sweet beer, with loads of candied sugar, oranges and perfume. Flavour is bizarre, with lots of candied sugar, but also lots of tart citrus fruits. Weird combination. They sort of balance each other out, but also seem to cancel each other out. Not an overly pleasant beer. Drinkable in small doses, but ultimately off the mark.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy copper color with medium off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy citrus tropical and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & tart flavor with a medium tart finish of moderate duration. Very strange brew.

Bottle courtesy of mikem409 and shared at the 17th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 1/28/12. Pours a hazy straw color with a thin tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of sweet malts, yeast and an almost corny note, The taste is big tropical fruits, yeast, and bread. Definite canned fruit quality, which I cant stand. Medium bodied. Disappointed by this one.

Sample at the brewpub. Clear dark golden pour with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of peppery yeast and caramel malt. Medium body with flavors of yeast, pepper, wheat and malt. The finish is sweet with a yeast and fruit aftertaste. As a Duvel clone it falls short, but still a decent brew.

On tap at Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice Night Two. A so-so Belgian. No aroma, light orange with no head. Some orange taste, a little fruit. A little sour finish. Not too drinkable.

Bottle Murky golden ale with a quickly dissipating, white head. The bouquet is spicy and herbal with peppery hops. Medium to full-bodied with tickling carbonation. The flavor is a blend of tart and caramely sweet. Finishes tangy and a tad spicy. Age has been kind to this bottle. Thanks go out to darkguardian for sharing!

12 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99 late 2011. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, orange citrus, big sweet malts, yeast and some additional fruit. Not my favorite from these guys.

Sample from a 12oz bottle, 2011 vintage. Clear golden orange color. THin off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Smooth, lighter, kind of soft carbonation. More dry finish. Bigger body. Nice tropical fruity aroma. Some pear, light spice. Some pineapple juice. Moderate bitter taste, nice light alcohol heat in the finish. Nice strong belgian pale. Good fruity warming flavor.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7490) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2014
From the April 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a small foamy white head that left no lacing. The aroma was faintly tart, a bit sour and a bit of vinegar. The flavor was sour and tangy with citric acid and pear. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.
