Deep ruby red ale. Extreme malty/caramel flavor; sweet up front, finishing with hop bitterness and aroma. Very complex beer. We recommend at least four more months of age. But it is a delight to drink now.
Batch 1 - brewed late 2003, draught only.
Batch 2 - brewed 8/1/2004
Batch 3 - brewed 2/16/2005
Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

12 oz bottle. 2013 vintage. Holy smokes. The pour is like muddy lake water. There is no head to be found and as such, no lace either. The aroma is extraordinarily complex. There is a beautiful sweet toffee or caramel with dark fruits galore and a wonderful apple cider character. There are dominant figs and a light marshmallow-ey note. The flavor is just as complex. It starts off like the cider and roars through the labyrinth of dark fruits. The toffee comes through strong on the back end. The mouth feel is perfect. Thick, minimal carbonation, the flavors coat and cling to the tongue. The finish is a touch dry, with a light warming from the 13.5% ABV. Overall just an amazing beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours mahogany, slight haze and hints of beige foam. Aroma is warming, bit of warm bourbon booze, not too much of it, nice balance with malty-nutty body. Caramel candy, iris candy nose with a bit of hop kick. Taste has lots of caramel, nut, marmalade and cherries. There is some booze but that doesnt bother. Which is great. Its quite sweet but its well balanced with the hop bitterness and alcohol booze also contributes. Very balanced flavour profile, just amazing.

Medium brown ruby color. Sweet malty nose with caramel, canberries, raisins, milk chocolate, vanilla with just a hint of bourbon. Very malty, slight sour, canberries, raisin, caramel. Super smooth, rounded. Amazing old ale.

Old note. Should have added this one long time ago. :-) Anyway. The aroma has dried fruits/raisin, caramel, soy. Dark coloured beer with no head. The taste is moderate sweet, has raisin again, some caramel, fruitiness. Sticky mouthfeel. Full bodied. Nice!

2009 vintage bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour hazy dark copper with minimal tan head. Nose salt water taffy, caramel, light woody. Some vegetal and rubbing alcohol. Taste grape jolly rancher, caramel, light vegetal. Taste better than the nose. Still imagine this is better fresh.

Bottle from LCBO many moons ago. Bottled in 2012. Deep reddish brown. Not much of a head. Superb strong aroma of caramel and toffee and toasted marshmallow. Caramel and toffee flavours, with some lingering toasted marshmallow and a hint of oak. Reminds me of Thomas Hardy barleywine. Fantastic stuff.

Shared 0.355l bottle @ Ross flat in NYC . 2010 model. Its a really deep dark brown looking one this. Near what Ill call murky, still good looking and on the top theres a sidesticking off-white head - small lacings. Smells of dark licorice, sweet raisins and wood. Really good stuff. Just below average on the prickling carbonation level and it has a thick oily texture in the mouth. Much the same in the taste: Raisins and rum. I get wood, sweet caramel and its also a little salty. Superb stuff. nothing more to say. 19.06.2015
