Draft at Kuhnhenn, this drink was listed as a 9.5% alc. beer,
hand pulled into a shaker and served at almost room temperature, this beer was pitch black in the glass and it had a foamy tan colored head,
it had aromas of big roasted malt, chocolate and some vanilla, a bit of coffee, dark malt sweetness with brown sugar,
the flavors were similar to the aromas, nice roasted malt, chocolate and vanilla, brown sugar and molasses,
the finish had some malt bitterness,
the mouth feel was towards the full side, carbonation was soft, it was pretty creamy on the lips and coated the tongue,
this was a very good impy, a nice drink. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 11, 2016
12oz bottle. Poured a black color with brown edges and a small sized tan head. This was over carbonated that took away from the overall experience. Chocolate, vanilla, lactose, and not much more to pick out with that carbonation. alliance100 (1152) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 27, 2015
On cask at Logans Alley - pours black with light brown head . Powdered cocoa aroma . Sweet cream and hints of cocoa . Very good !

On cask. Black with minimal head. Strong chocolate malt. Complex flavor profile. Would be better with some more carbonation, but pretty awesome as is tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - FEB 12, 2015
Tap: Dark, black, allowing no light to pass, even at the edges. Small, semi-bubbly tan head builds up to a few millimeters, then settles as a thin film & collar after a few moments. Aroma loaded with deep cocoa & rich espresso. Not overly sweet or cloying, yet not too dark or insanely bitter, either. Perfectly "bittersweet". Roasted malts, hints of milky cream, & perhaps a touch of anise in the back-end. The sweetness of the cocoa & lactose hit the palate first, delicate & soft, then it slowly cascades into a more roasted profile; charred malt, roasted coffee beans, harsh licorice flavors, & a touch of earthiness. Medium bodied; have had this on cask a few times & it certainly amplifies the experience. Midnight, 86% cacao finish with a hint of milk, coffee, & roast left in its wake. Delicious stuff. Glad to see that Kuhnhenn seems to be producing this more often.

On tap at the brewpub...fantastic drink of liquid chocolaty earth with some delicious alcohol for good measure. As good as mud gets in Michigan! firstsip (733) - Michigan, USA - OCT 25, 2014
Tap at Detroit Fall Beer Fest. Dark brown/black. Some nice brown head on pour. Rich creamy body tastes like melted M & Ms. Deliciously chocolatey. Dfonorow (2216) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 5, 2014
On tap at Kuhnhenn. Pour is deep black with a medium tan head. Aroma and flavor of milk chocolate, vanilla beans, dairy creamer, cocoa powder, and earth. Finish has more lactose and vanilla than the body. djd07 (14508) - Houston, Texas, USA - SEP 24, 2014
Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a dark brown with small head. The aroma is strong lactose and sugar malt. Thin mouthfeel with nice lactose, rich chocolate, sweet finish, hides alcohol well, very good. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - AUG 14, 2014
Poured a dark black color from the bottle with aromas of chocolate, lactose, light nuts, some vanilla, and a touch of sweetness. Flavors are chocolate, vanilla, lactose, and a hint of nuts. Really nice stout overall, nice mouth feel, thick and creamy.
