Bottle… Clear golden mead with no legs. The aroma is a mélange of wildflower honey, light bourbon, maple syrup and ethanol. Full-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and no carbonation. The flavor is a sweet, warming marriage of maple syrup, wildflower honey and stiff (but clean) alcohol. Finishes sweet and nourishing. Insulin shock, here I come! Thanks to dmschefke for providing this rarity! 50belair (3617) - Florida, USA - FEB 28, 2011
Bottle courtesy of hopscotch. Eric is the man, always coming through with the crazy rare bottles.... Light dehydrated clear yellow piss color. Achie machie what a nose. Pure alcohol with a splash of honey. The taste is really hot with tons of alcohol burn and just a little sweet honey. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 3, 2010
Small nip-like bottle from a recent trade... Smooth bodied pour yields a still apple cider brown elixir with a nice leggy film running down the sides if the glass... Aroma had some wet wood at first but soon opened up with some bourbon esthers. Sweet decadent honey tags along and some swirls reveal a gentle heat. The maple aspect, although subtle, meshes well with the honey but i think it ultimately gets lost due to the barrel-aging... this is a very smooth textured sweet mead with less of a barrel note in the flavor and more of a prolonged honey and maple feel. A little time in the mouth lends to some heat but it all remains quite enjoyable. My first kuhnhenn mead and I’ll most def be searching for more. Heads up to Derek who will be filling that itch!... Sidenote: far more
enjoyable than bnektar meads at this point. Too many sulfites interfere with those. Rosebud butternuts (2396) - Denton, Texas, USA - MAY 18, 2010
