A brown, Belgian-style abbey ale. Caramel, banana, biscuit and fruity-aromas contribute to the balance of this strong, complex beer. A sweet, bready and caramel flavor follows with a silky, creamy finish.

Bottle share @ Hampton Inn pre-DLD 2016. Dark brown with a small khaki colored head. Notes of yeast, licorice, banana, apples, and spice. Finish has more caramel / banana / apple, very sweet.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2016 Pours translucent sepia with a decent buff head. Aroma presents banana, caramel and toasty malt notes. Sharp flavor adds cherries and a bit of sourness to the mix that the aroma promises. Figs pop up in the finish. Texture features average body, but good fizz. Nine, neuf, neun, nueve - it adds up to a good brew.

Bottle, 2012 I think. Pours hazy reddish amber, small tan head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is nail polish remover, oak, dates. NPR fades as the beer breathes, but that initial sniff lingers on my neurons. Flavor is light plus sweet, dark fruits, kinda biting astringency. Medium body.

Bottle during RBWG. Pours a cloudy brown with beige head. Aroma is dark fruits and caramel. Medium mouth with sweet raisin and bready malt, hides alcohol well, very good.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by arminjewell). Looks good; a translucent dark cola with thin off-white lacing. Smells and tastes good too; dark pitted fruit and Belgian yeast with a smooth and sweet mouthfeel that is tasty but not cloying. Great beer.

jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 1, 2014
Dark brown with scant head and lacing (aged bottle) / Rich nose of dark fruit, caramel, sherry, nut, banana / Full body, somewhat hot, smooth, fine balance / Flavors of banana, prune, date, chocolate, oak, biscuit / Really fine, although my bottle was hand-sealed and, after a year, may have changed more than intended.

suprchunk (2994) - EffOff, Florida, USA - AUG 1, 2014
Almost black pour. Small tan head. Not much lacing. Perfumy flowery aroma. Taste is molasses and malt. Carbonic. Some of the flower comes through. Slightly bitter.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Murky brown ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Caramel and sour cherries are front-and-center in the nose. Full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and sleepy carbonation. The flavor is a melange of sour cherries and deep roasted malts with a dab of gooey caramel. Finishes tart and fruity. Thanks so much to FlandersNed for shooting this world class beer to south Florida!
