Draft at blind tiger with Andy Pdaddy. Pours a deep black body with thin white lacing. Aroma is sweet molasses, dark malts, sugar. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of sweet malts, sugar, molasses, maple and light bark. mmmkay (51) - - JUL 14, 2012
Nice roasty dark malt and amount of hops. Almost a dark ipa. A good level alcohol makes this a good sipping beer.

Draft at the pub. Pours a very black color with a small amount of head. Mostly roasted malt in the aroma with a slight floral hoppiness. Taste is mostly roasted malt, slight amount of chocolate, and some floral and citrus hops. Fairly bitter too. Finish is smooth but can taste a little too much alcohol in the finish. This is a little disappointing since I usually really like black lagers. There’s not enough flavor and the finish has that alcohol burn that shouldn’t be there. It’s certainly not a bad beer though just not up to the Kuhnhenn standard in my opinion. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - SEP 16, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a black body with an inch thick, dense and creamy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice, creamy lacing throughout. Aroma isn’t explosive, but it’s very solid and really opens up nicely as this warms. Roasty with some citrus pines and florals as well as a touch of clean malt sweetness. Roast definitely increases more and more as this warms with some lager yeast as well. Flavor is similar. Distinct clean lager yeast and a light malt sweetness to go alongside the really nice blend of roasts and citrusy hops. Not overly hoppy, but very well balanced. Finishes dry with a medium-light, roasty and piney bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a light, clean body with a crisp, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really cool beer. I like the Black IP-Lager concept. Very clean and roasty with a nice citrusy hopping. Easy drinking and highly enjoyable.

tap at kuhnhenn. black india pale lager. black pour with medium head. slight spice, grapefruit, and spruce, flavor adds more of a malt bill to it, adding sweet breads and earth to the spicy hops...
