3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2014 Tap @ Kuhnhenn: Sunburst, vibrant orange and translucent. No head, only a gray ring. Aroma is blueberry full force, sweet and fragrant more so than sour. Syrup-like in character. Some dryness in the end. Taste is a bit tart but isn’t quite puckering or insanely sour. Mild blueberry, not as pungent as in the aroma but still leading the way. Light lemon tartness and light vinegar acidity. Not much funk. Maybe some light oak dryness in the finish. Gets a little more tart as it warms.
On tap: The aroma consists of tart blueberries and a touch if vanilla. It pours a murky purplish-brown with a minimal beige ring for a head. The flavor starts with sweet blueberries and a touch of caramel. The finish turns to tart blueberries, faint banana, and a touch of tasty apple.medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, more tart than the mango, but still chines across as more of a fruit beer. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - AUG 21, 2011
On tap at the GTMW 2011. Pours a deep purple with a pinkish head. Aroma of straw, funk, fresh blueberries. Flavor is dusty, dry, bretty. Strong funk and fresh blue berries. Thickish mouthfeel. I think I’d like this more but I’m not a big fan of blueberries. I’m certainly grateful this so dry, though. Nice for a blueberry sour. Probably would have rated it higher but the fruit holds it back. madvike (3261) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 20, 2011
On tap at GTMW - Whoa. Pours unlike anything I’ve ever seen, save for maybe a mixed berry smoothie. Totally opaque bluish-purple with a couple big purple bubbles. Smells like Kool Whip and blueberries, lightly funked out, but mostly sweet and fruity. Taste has only a bit of sourness and drying brett, but mostly tastes like a blueberry smoothie. Thick, smooth, and creamy, I can’t tell if there are really chunks of blueberries in this one or if it’s just my imagination. Super fun beer. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Draft on tap at Great Taste of the Midwest 2011 (Madison, WI). Pours a purple milkshake thick pour, small purple bubbled head. Wow. Aromas are dry straw and funky brett, dust and barnyard, atouch of fruity blueberry. Initial is medium bodied offering a lot of blueberry pulp, dry and straw, funky brett, cheesey. Touches of cobwebs, more fruit, bread dough, and a touch of grass. Lingering dusyt and brett, really an odd bag of tricks. Dry and funky, lingering more fruity blueberries, a bit thick and chunky. Nice, interesting. Fruity and decent sourness, lingering bretty funk. Pretty nice, I thought. Real true blueberry presence.

Sampled on draft at GTMW 2011. Pours a hazy purple color with a medium sized purple head. Appropriate enough. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of earthy notes, intense blueberries and some cherry. The taste is blueberries, grapes, berries and an earthy finish. Medium bodied. This is what every blueberry wants to be when it grows up. This poured a hazy lighter orange color with a slightly blue tinted beige head. Aroma was lots of tart blueberries and light wheat character, some yeast too. Flavor was fairly tart blueberries, with tart funky yeast too. Good stuff from Kuhnhenn. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUL 26, 2011
MiBG summer fest 2011. another nice one from the series. blue, purple pour with pink head. aroma ismostly sour and oaky, with subtle sweetness and a touch of blueberry. tart berry and black cherry comes through in the flavor quite nicely to complement the slick our and light funk. this version is closest to the base "straight" version Nickls (2535) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUL 25, 2011
Tap, RnH. Darky muddy amber brown with an eggshell head. Vinegar notes, sour fruits, of berries and cherries. Some slightly sweet cherry flavor with a nice wallop of puckering sourness, acidity, and sour fruity finish. Medium body. Nice brew. Hair6a11 (1481) - Illinois, USA - JUL 23, 2011
On tap; pour is like blueberry juice with an average off white head that does retain fairly well. The nose is like a wheat beer with a ton of blueberry added; coupled with a bit of sour character. The blueberry juice in the flavor profile feels a little artificial; no surprise since it was infused later. The sour character could be a bit more developed and strong for me; anyway, a nice attempt overall.
