3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a light red with orange tinting. Smell is candied fruit, sour patch kids and zebra gum. Taste is medicinal with fake fruit notes that are over the top. Mildly sweet for the average mead.
Smells like red fruit amazingness. Tastes like apple juice, cherry, pomegranate, and a very slight alcohol note and warmth. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 13, 2014
Orange/red pour. Pretty sweet up front, the flavors alternate between sweet and sour. Cherry dominates, the flavor isn’t overly artificial but not pure as I would like either. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 6, 2012
6oz nip bottle picked up via trade... pours a somewhat muddled combination of copper and reddish tones, semi-transparent, still, but enticingly leggy... aroma of subtle apple and cherry pie to go alongside a sweetened honey base. the pom doesn’t jump out as being assertive and falls to the wayside underneath the cherry and honey components. fruity overall with enough honey for balance. reminds me of a fruit roll-up for some reason... flavors are more of the same with a somewhat syrupy feel to it. softer cherries and honey once again with a touch of heat and spice on the backend. medium bodied. ok. brokensail (16678) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 26, 2012
Thanks to Steve for this bottle. Pours a clear reddish-orange color with no carbonation. Aroma is quite fruity with a ton of cherry. I don’t get quite as much pomegranate, though. Smells a bit like red Kool-Aid. The flavor is full of sweet fruit, honey, and sugar. A light floral note and the same Kool-Aid character to it. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Nip bottle thanks to womencantsail. Clear pinkish orange. Flat, viscous. Nose is kool aid burst. Taste is not too sweet. Loads of pithy red cherries. Sweet, tangy, thick. Very nice. Thick legs on the side of the glass. Nice stuff. Fruit punch overall. Just no honey character.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear reddish amber pour with no head and some nice legs. Aroma of cherry, apple, pomegranate, a sour fruit note and honey. Cherry and honey flavor up front with some tropical fruit character before a semi-sweet cherry finish. hopscotch (11322) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 2, 2012
Bottle… Clear copper mead with a rose tint and centipede-like legs. The aroma is pomegranate and sour cherries with a clover honey backbone. Full-bodied and oily. The flavor is fruity and just a smidgen more acidic than sweet. Finishes tangy, raspy and then a touch dry. Bottle thanks to Kyle. Pours a clear peachy gold with a small swhite head that dissipates completely. Aroma has a really nice note of sweet cheery with a slight tart pomegranate note. Flavor starts with honey, but mainly cherry and tart pomegranate. MasterSki (8) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 10, 2011 does not count
Thanks to Dave Schuster for picking this up at Kuhnhenn for me.
A - Light pink transparent body, with some orange tints to it as well.
S - Smell is delightful - smells almost like juice, or perhaps like the pomegranate Vitamin Water.
T - Taste isn’t quite as excellent, but it’s still quite delicious. Nice notes of honey, tart cherries, and ripe pomegranate, but perhaps a hint of alcohol as well. Just not as juicy and sweet as the smell.
P - Medium in body, with lots of fruit tannins. No obvious alcohol burn. Very easy to drink - I was sad I had to share this with so many people.
O - One of my favorite meads from Kuhnhenn. Hopefully there is some left next time I’m there. If not, I hope Frank makes this one again.
