On tap @ Kuhnhenn. Poured a murky red-brown color with a sparse whitish head. Nice rich aroma with a candied fruit sweetness and Belgian yeast. Taste rich as well but pretty straightforward. Heavy malt sweetness with some fruit and a yeasty twinge at the end.

Enjoyed the 3-year aged version at the brewpub. Great aroma. Strong, with meady smooth characteristic. Ruby red with lots of lace Some sourness making it a sipper. Above averag mouthfeel.

Cask-conditioned 3-year Prometheus, at Kuhnhenn’s 10th anniversary party. Aroma of light floral hops, with lots of fruit: grape, plum, and apple. Also had an odd perfumey aroma that I can’t quite place. Smelled really good, though! Taste of yeast, sweet malts, candi sugar. Mouthfeel medium with dry finish. Really great beer!

Tap at Kuhnhenn. 3 year aged, I think this might deserve a separate area.... anyway, pours a dark brown with thin off-white head, no lacing. Aroma of dried and slightly tart fruits, overripe apple, roasted malt, caramel, and a bit of chocolate. Flavor matched well with an additional sweetness, yeast that I didn’t detect in the aroma, slight bitterness, and some spice. Mouthfeel is slightly slick with a dry slightly sour, slightly bitter finish.

Sample from a bottle @ DLD 09 (also had @ DLD 08). Pours a reddish copper color with a medium sized diminishing off white head. The aroma was dried fruits, banana, sweet bread, yeast, and spices. The flavor was candy sugar, yeast, fruity, spices (clove, cinnamon) and caramel malt that just didn’t seem to want to completely work together. Medium bodied and interesting. The alcohol was warming, but not indicative of 10+ %. Thanks to the person who shared this.

Sampled from 750 ml bottle during Dark Lord Day ’09, at table 1. Pours a semi-clear dark reddish amber with a thick off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of banana esters, yeast, candi sugar, dried figs, raisin and a hint of tropical fruit. Taste is full bodied, light carbonation with flavors of Belgian yeast, candi sugar, banana esters, a hint of clove and dark pitted fruits, Finish is semi-sweet with a touch of banana and alcohol warmth. Nice!

4/25/2009: Kuhnhenn Prometheus has an interesting spicy aroma paired with a malty and fruity flavor. The flavor has a spice meldey as well that includes cinammon and nutmeg among others. The body of the beer is average and there is quite a bit of sediment suspended in the liquid.

Sample from bottle at Dark Lord Day 2009. Rating #51 for this beer.
