Tap at Kuhnhenn. 3 year aged, I think this might deserve a separate area.... anyway, pours a dark brown with thin off-white head, no lacing. Aroma of dried and slightly tart fruits, overripe apple, roasted malt, caramel, and a bit of chocolate. Flavor matched well with an additional sweetness, yeast that I didn’t detect in the aroma, slight bitterness, and some spice. Mouthfeel is slightly slick with a dry slightly sour, slightly bitter finish.

From notes. Enjoyed at a bottle share at Sean’s on December 29. 750 mL, 2007 vintage bottle opened by Sean as the night cap. Thanks man! We dubbed this “Crème de Colgate” by the time this was over. The pour is a darker cherry rust colored brown with a thin ring of light tan head and no lace as it falls. The aroma is surprisingly minty. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t seem right. There is a light and sweet caramel on the back end that seems it’s more of what they were going for here. The flavor is much of the same. Really minty up front with a nice sweetness and a malty caramel through to the finish. The mouth feel is a little light and decently carbonated with a lingeringly sweet caramel finish with a hint of mint. I think without the mint, this has a chance to be solid.

12oz bottle from 2011 in a tulip. Pours deep brown/ruby with a small head. Aroma of dark fruits, grapes, some spices, caramel and hints of chocolate from the malts, alcohol, and light bitterness. Flavor the same. Low carbonation. Not the best beer.

’11 bottle from Sean - thanks ! Murky rust/cherry colored pour with no head. Light clove, mint, and heavier sweet malt in the aroma. Taste is fairly generic sweet malt with soft spice. Watery mouthfeel. Okay.

2011 bottle from Rayl101. Porus a clear light mahogany color with a minimal khaki head that rings the rim of the glass. Minimal carbonation. Aroma is herbal, with lots of mint, mint-chocolate, and something savory. Taste is sweet with a little bit of alcohol bite. It goes down pretty smooth and tastes better than it smells. I’m not really sure what to make of this beer.
