Sample at MBGSF 08 (notes). Pours a hazy orange color with a small white head. The aroma has lightly toasted malt, juniper and pine. The flavor is more juniper and pine, floral, with lightly toasted malts. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Interesting, but not a style I would seek out.
Rating #8 for this beer.

Draft sample at MBGF Summer08. Poured a hazy brown color with an average off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good aroma of juniper and pine. Medium body with smooth dry texture. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy complex bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. Interesting complex brew. vyvvy (6470) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - AUG 24, 2008
GTMW 08 - Another interesting one from Kuhnhenn. Pours yellow / orange with a white head. The aroma has tones of juniper and spruce notes with toasty malt. Medium / light body with a smooth lightly grainy feel with soft carbonation. The flavors starts floral and dry along with the above mentioned flavors. The finish is bone dry and pleasant. Good beer. GTOM ’08 - Lots of spice (juniper, cardamon) in the nose. In the mouth it was medium-bodied and showed a bit of a smokiness along with the juniper from the nose. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 15, 2008

I went back twice to get this at GTMW 08. I can’t put my finger on this one, but there was just something about it that kept pulling me back. It was sweet, but not overkill, and had some tart fruity flavors to it. It was really nice to have this inbetween all the stouts. Of all the beers i tried that day this was in my top 5. And i tried a lot of excellent beers. ogglethorp (917) - Ohio, USA - AUG 12, 2008
On tap at MBGSF 08. Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma is caramel, almond, spice. Flavor is caramel, clove, light cocoa, nutty. Palate is medium bodied, mild carbonation, finished sweet. First time for this style, good stuff, don’t know if I could drink it everyday though. Philip (436) - Illinois, USA - AUG 12, 2008
Great Taste 2008. Kuhnhenn broke out some great beers of odd styles, including the Gruit and a few others. I think this was my favorite, although the Gruit was the most bizarre. It reminded me a bit of a Christmas ale with notes of ginger, clove, and cranberry, tea, and a touch of cherry, but the absence of hops was really strange for me. I guess this reminded me a bit of some of the crazier Dogfish Head concoctions. It’s impressive that Kuhnhenn can brew a complex beer without hops. A fun opportunity.
