COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Pale American Belgo style beer was 2010 GABF’s silver medal winner. It has notes of spicy pineapple, mango bubblegum aromas which comes from the unique marriage of a special Bel-gian yeast and an American Simcoe hop. This beer has an initial soft malt sweetness with orange fruitiness and finishes with a hoppy dryness.

Kuhnhenn Simcoe Silly Ale 64 oz growler Moderate pour in a goblet Unknown brewing (recent?), enjoyed day after the growler pour, 04/07 Poured a deep clear amber with an average white head and good lacing. Smelt of strong apricots, banana candy, bubble gum, tutti frutti. Taste was upfront strong sweet candy sugar, moderate apricot, followed by a strong rustic yeastiness and grassiness on an average length finish. Palate was medium bodied, softly carbonated, creamy and moderately astringent. Alcohol does not show through whatsoever, impressive! Overall, an extremely fun and easy strong drinkable beer. Flavors are fun and simple, yet bold. Awesome balance.

On tap. Dark copper in color with a thin, stark white head. Thick palate. Interesting floral hop and banana-phenol aroma, but overall the hop aroma isn’t very intense. Taste has a moderate hoppiness and distinct Belgian yeast tones. Tastes more interesting than it smells, but overall it’s drinkable and unique.

This was botlted in a 12 oz. bottle from a growler that my brother bought at the brewery, and then brought to Colorado where I had it on 3/19/07. It had been bottled for about a month. Pour was a clear amber with a small white head, undoubtedly ther result of the "secondary" bottling. Nonetheless, it looked pretty good. Aroma of caramel and spice with some orange peel as well. Mouthfeel is smooth and rich with a medium body. Nicely balanced flavor of fruity sweetness and spicy bitterness leads to a lightly dry finish. Very drinkable, and the alcohol was never in evidence.

Draft, thank you Brew Kettle! Hazy light brown/amber, big white head. Aroma is banana. Flavor is mostly banana with lots of spicy sugary sweetness, caramel, more fruits like apples and orange, maybe some candi sugar finishing with grassy hops and a spicy lingering sweet bitterness. I slammed a few of these real quick.

Draft. Aroma: Lots of orange zest, spice, floral, candi sugar, apple, banana. Interesting. Appearance: Medium golden in color and hazy. Off-white head was full and foamy with decent retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Similar to nose. Lots of fruit (orange, apple, banana), coriander and pepper, floral and light pine hoppiness, candi sugar. Finishes fairly dry, but some sweetness lingers on. Palate: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Overall: An interesting beer. I liked the play of belgian yeast and american hops.

Fruity sugary aroma, gorgeous orange rust color, sweet fruity taste with some lingering bitterness, in the middle the bitterness is not much of a factor, alcohol not really noticable,a real Belgian classic

Draft at 2007 Michigan BGWF. Poured hazy golden color with a moderate white head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Good tart citrus hoppy aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Good well balanced malty flavor with a moderate smooth balanced finish of moderate duration. Good beer.

Draught at Cole’s in Buffalo, NY. Pours a hazy golden-orange with a small diminishing white head. Mild, fruity aroma, a little sugary with some spices and a hint of hops. Flavour’s more mellow and subtle then I expected, it’s sweet, yeasty and spicy with a light bitter finish. Alcohol’s incredibly well hidden. Decent body for the style. I’m still shocked how mellow this beer is but I quite liked it, a pretty good version of the style.
