This Pale American Belgo style beer was 2010 GABF’s silver medal winner. It has notes of spicy pineapple, mango bubblegum aromas which comes from the unique marriage of a special Bel-gian yeast and an American Simcoe hop. This beer has an initial soft malt sweetness with orange fruitiness and finishes with a hoppy dryness.

On tap at the brewpub...fantastic marriage of an American IPA and Belgian Strong Ale. Really more of an Imperial IPA with crisp, clean hoppiness that finishes dry. Crazy good!

4 oz. pour, on tap at the brewery’s taproom in Warren, Michigan. Consumed on 4-21-16. Pours a hazy bronze with moderate to high effervescence. Thick, cream-colored head. Looks good. Pleasant, hoppy, Belgian aroma. Scents of brine and paint. Yeasty, fresh smell. Very Belgian taste but also dry. Hoppy Belgian golden ale more than a Belgian IPA. Medium body. Frothy in the palate. Good palate effects. Good beer overall. I don’t necessarily specifically sense Simcoe, which is perhaps my favorite hop.

Pours an Amber/copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is tropical fruits, citrus, bubblegum, clove. Flavor is some citrus and tropical fruits, juicy, a bit more muted than the aroma. Very low bitterness, thinner body than I expected. Very good.

At Great Taste 2015. On the sweet side but also surprisingly earthy and herbal. It doesn’t match the flavor profile for what i expect from a Belgian strong. Flavor is good, good thick palate.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of floral and citrus. Tastes of citrus, floral notes, earthy yeast. Medium body with a dry finish. Different but interesting.

On tap, poured into a balloon snifter. The aroma has some toffee / caramel notes and a light alcohol touch initially. The alcohol fades, and is replaced by a hop spiciness with bread and bubblegum. After awhile, the aroma settles into clove and tropical notes with a light toffee. The beer has a light haze to the orange-bronze hue, and is topped by a white, big, bubbly, soap head that has moderate retention and lace. The taste is a balanced medium high bittersweet. The beer is oily, a bit on the heavy side, with a big foamy carbonation and a medium full body. The flavor is spicy with a warm alcohol and notes of toast and tropical fruits. It finishes zingy with a spice kick and a light alcohol heat that turns to marmalade and burnt bread which has a moderate length and an aftertaste that’s light with notes of dry, crusty bread and resin, and a light bubblegum hint.

Tap. Deep golden with small head. Light Belgian spice with moderate hops. Rather low bitterness. Very well done.

Dry hoppy aroma of hay and citrus with a bananaish belgian fruit. Appears bright clear yellow with swirls of foam. Tastes a lot like a sweet reisling, bright, sweet, citrusy, light. Palate is light, fizzy, nice. Overall, wow, very delicate, flavorful, nice.

Tap: Cloudy, dull golden color with a half-inch white head that lasts on top. Some nice, generous lacing left behind. Aroma is pretty subdued at first. What I get from it is kind of strange, too. Notes of weird pickled garlic, potent herbal hoppage, bitter leaves, white pepper, a bit of medicinal phenols. Not loving it so far. Taste is similarly disappointing. Sharp clove & white pepper followed by a brash, pretty harsh bitterness. Earthy hops, heavy dirt flavor, ashy leaves... A little overpowering. Slight chalky yeast character with more phenols, medicinal tones, & spicy bubblegum in the finish. Belgian yeast aftertaste, spicy & herbal with some lingering esters. Kuhnhenn makes some great beers. They also make some fantastic beers. This is neither. Not a fan.

Draught at CBC 2014. Hazy golden liquid with a medium white head. Aroma of white pepper, blackberries, citrus, tangerine and bread. Taste is dry and light to medium bitter with notes of white pepper and citrus. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent.

Draft - Light bubblegum and fruity esters. Clear gold with a decent white head. Sweet, fruity and syrupy. Almost like cough syrup. A it too sweet and sticky for me.
