Bottle... Pours cloudy and dark amber with orange flickers and a small, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. The nose is too faint, but I finally pick up some sage. Full-bodied and fatty with tingly carbonation. The flavor is fruity and bready - light citrus tanginess and mild tannic, crusty bitterness. Tangy, bready finish. Pulls up just shy of being world-class. Kudos to biggsbowler for sharing this bottle of beer!

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2015 Bottle: Around one year old. Amber & orange gradient across the body; translucent & foggy tons of rising carbonation streams. Huge, volatile, eggshell colored cap sits like a cloud for days. Aroma includes heavy sage, white pepper, tree bark, flowers, herbal tea leaves, lemon peel, orange zest, toasted malt, & heavy spices from the Belgian yeast. Getting the typical clove, gum, mint, & phenol in the back half. Spiciness is even heavier on the palate. Leafy, herbal, peppery bomb. Tons of sage, too, although it’s much more that sage alone. The whole kitchen spice rack. Lemon, clove, cardamom, sage, even some mild fennel? Spicy. Herbaceous. Hint of tart apple skins, huge bready yeast, coriander, orange peel, & there’s actually a strong waft of finishing funk. Cheese rind, must, cobweb, & damp cellar floor. Spritzy mouth feel. Not a bad saison, it’s just a bit unrefined... Kind of all over the map. Needs more tightness. Still not bad, though.

Reviewed from notes. Bottle grabbed as I left the brewery back in June of 2013. The appearance was a clear orange/amber body with a one finger white foamy head, some light lacing but slides down into the body. The smell had a slightly tart/spicy/floral all combined nicely and leaving a sort of herbal-ness to it. The taste had a mostly the same with some citrusy/malty thing goin’ on, tart aftertaste and a dry finish. The palate had a light to medium in body, came across somewhat sessionable. Carbonation is adequately felt for the style and for me. Overall, for me, I probably had this a bit too late as it aged to the normal "tart" saison, just me, but I’d rather have this fresh, however I say still good, seek it if you’re in the Metro Detroit area.

12oz bottle courtesy of 15_2_Kuhnhenn. It pours with a clear copper body and gold edges supporting a near white head of foam. The aroma has a bouquet of spicy Belgian yeast, smooth full herbal sage nuanced by sweet maltiness and some honey like notes. The taste is bold and bright with Belgian yeasty spiciness and bold sage herb notes flowing into a light citrus sensation. With all of this richness this fits right in as an enjoyable sipper.
