3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at brewery. Pours an almost clear black (if that makes sense), with medium tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, ever so slight chocolate, dried fruits, and alcohol. Flavor matches well, but alcohol at 19% is surprisingly well hidden, but definitely kicks your ass later. Very nice, definitely drinkable and enjoyable. I normally don’t like these ultra high ABV impy stouts, but this was pretty good. I need to try it out of the bottle.
Backlog rating from RBESG 2008, grand tasting: Wooden nose, vanilla, tobacco aroma. Brown. Wood, vanilla, leather, tobacco and citruspeel. Slick mouthfeel. Hops retronasal. stevoj (5869) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 14, 2017
12oz bottle thanks to toby at 2017 RIS tasting, 2010 vintage. Near black pour, small beige head. Big roasty, boozy aroma, mild smoky character. taste adds some sweetness, not too much, more roast grains and gentle warmth. Aged very well. jake65 (4033) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - MAY 14, 2017
Bottle at the 10th Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. 2010 Vintage. Deep brown pour with a small ring of head. Aroma is heat, deep roasted malts, and a little smoky. Tastes heavy in roasted malts, a litle smoky, and some pit fruit. Very warming. Thanks to Toby for sharing this one.

12oz bottle thanks to toby. Pours out dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is booze roast malts chocolate ash this is doing good still. Taste is more of the nice roast malts chocolate ash sweetness. Learninbeer (669) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - SEP 9, 2016
2007 bottle. The aroma is chocolate and vanilla. Pours a dark, dark brown with fully diminishing light brown head and good lacing. The taste is sweet and bitter. The body is full. The texture creamy, the carbonation lively/fizzy, the finish bitter, some funkiness going on here. This probably aged too long, hits hard, has a lot going on but just doesn’t satisfy like a normal RIP. Good!

Bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour opaque black with minimal tan head. Nose molasses, raisin, prune, woody. Taste starts with slightly astringent alcohol, but quickly transition to red fruit, light roast, peat, and woody tannin. Still some heat even in 2010 vintage. Thick mouth feel. koleminer20 (4171) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - SEP 24, 2015
From notes. Enjoyed on September 19 at Travis’ house. Poured from a 12 oz bottle, vintage 2010. The pour is a thinner dark brown with a small light tan head and no lace. The ring of head, however, lasts forever. The aroma is really boozy and in your face. There is a ton of roasted malts and the dark fruits are huge in this as well. There is a light chocolate, but for the most part the booze is huge, and the rest of the flavors follow suit. The flavor is again huge and boozy. There is a light roast, some chocolate, and hefty dose of dark fruits. Nothing is dethroning this booziness. The mouth feel is thick and viscous. There is a soft carbonation and a lingeringly hot, dark fruit finish. If it weren’t so punch you in the face boozy, this would be really good. Karstenborg (1157) - Hasselager, DENMARK - SEP 14, 2015
2010 bottle. Almost black with small off-white long lasting head. Aroma is roasted malt, raisin and coffee. Taste is dark chocolate, roasted malt and toasted bread. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - AUG 25, 2015
beyond disgusting, boozy garbage Tons of sharp plastic chemical flavors, jet fuel. A complete ripoff. Reynolds314 (3472) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 14, 2015
Oily black color with no head. Aroma is prune juice, bread, booze, and raisin bran. TSte is incredibally sweet and boozy with tons of fruit. Like a really bad port or sherry wine. Blah.
