2005 bottle courtesy of Ibrew2or3/retorp. Pours a light chardonnay yellow with no head. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of floral esters, honey, candy sugar, fresh fruit, some hints of grassy wheat. Flavor is sweet and syrupy with notes of candy sugar, honey, light floral esters. Generally medium body with a pleasing fruity finish. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 29, 2009
Thanks retorp for the share. Pours a watery-looking yellow. It is watery only in appearance, as this mead smells like booze, honey, light fruit, and sugar. Flavor is very similar. Very good mead. gkost (1069) - Alaska, USA - AUG 15, 2009
Pours a very clear pale yellow. Nose is alcohol, sweet honey, sugar, mild spices, apple, lemon and pear. Flavor is very hot alcohol, sweet sweet honey, fermented fruits, apple, pear, plum. Wow! JMFG (1587) - Florida, USA - DEC 7, 2008
Courtesy Ibrew2or3. Clear light yellow pour, no head. Interesting aroma - unique herbal aroma that I assume is a character of the thistle honey. Sweet taste, but surprisingly dry on the back end. Interesting and unique. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - NOV 27, 2008
Bottle from IBrew2or3. Thanks! Pours almost clear with just a hint of yellow. Aromas of flowers, light citrus, honey. Sweet honey flavors with some nice fruitiness both sweet and a little tart. Some pears are evident in the flavor and aroma too. Uncarbonated, with a touch of alcohol. My first mead and I liked it. Thanks!

Tasting at Backus’ Backyard Bash. Thanks to IBrew2or3 for the taste! Clear light honey yellow color. Very sweet honey flower aroma. Lighter taste, not such sweet cloying honey and very easy to drink. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 23, 2008
Courtesy IBrew2or3. Thanks a ton for sharing this rarity. Pours a clear, light straw color with no head or lacing. The still body shows moderate, sugary legging as the glass is swirled. Aromas lead off with the obligatory honey, though it’s very light compared to many other meads. Orange blossoms, indiscernible flowers (I don’t know what Star Thistle smells like), and a hint of sour fruit also show on the nose. The flavor is again very floral, with a light honey background and just a touch of dry, sour fruit notes. A silky, easy drinking body is sweet but not at all cloying. This is one of the easiest going meads I’ve ever tried. Solid. hopscotch (11182) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 23, 2008
Bottle… Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08... Pours crystal clear with a sweet honey aroma. Medium-bodied and slightly syrupy with only a trace of carbonation. Sweet and tart… actually a little more acidic than sweet in both the flavor and finish. Dries way out. Nice! Thanks go out to IBrew2or3 for sharing the bottle!
