Split with JLindros.
Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a crystal clear golden straw hue. Aromas of light sunflower and vanilla notes, light honey, faint tannins. Taste is similar to the nose, fair amount of vanilla, the oak is rather tannin heavy. The honey is light too. Rather underwhelming. charule (2302) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 30, 2015
Bottle from Kuhnhenn. Poured clear gold no head. Smooth sweet boozy vanilla extract oak maple candy. Still mead with medium body. Tastes a little astringent sweet barrel toned down. If you like bourbon barrel sauce, this is for you. djd07 (16317) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 13, 2015
Bottle thanks to Brian. Pours a clear gold with no head. The aroma is strong honey and wine. Thin mouth, strong booze, honey, wood, good. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - JAN 16, 2015
Tap @ Kuhnhenn: Next to the 3-year version. Looks basically the same. Pale yellow-pear body with no carbonation. Aroma is much more whiskey & bourbon heavy. Tons of spicy booze, undertones of honey, wet oak, some faint vanilla maybe. But mostly tons of bourbon soaked wood. Flavor is the same way. Warming, nearly hot with a huge dose of bourbon, charred oak, & toasted honey up front. Back-end shows a touch of herbal floral notes, but this is dominated by the barrel. Seems like 3 years was the sweet spot. This is good but just a little to hot at the moment (fresh). brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 5, 2014
Bottle @ 10K + OT. Thanks, Jake. Clear, still, pale golden straw pour. Notes of honey, sugar, and flowers on the nose. Some oak, a hint of vanilla, light booze, and fruit loops. Minimal bourbon, surprisingly. Kind of bland and sweet on the palate. Lots of sugar, mild honey, and a touch of oak. Light vanilla, bourbon, and alcohol. Eh.

>> Clear white, flat pour. Nose is 100% mirin. Taste is watery, sake, bland. Super clean, almost made to pair with a specific dish as on its own it is essentially nothing.
Bottle at the tap room - pours clear straw, still. The bourbon notes are clearly present, tons of smoke, but it overwhelms what seems to be a delicate mead. The alcohol is masked by the cold, but starts to come through as a spicy burn once it warms. Nice! daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 8, 2013
Very light yellow pour. Hints of bourbon, oak, a tad of a floral flavor, warm alcohol, dry and pretty good. Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - OCT 7, 2013
Pours with a clear water colored body that has a slight yellow tint. The mild aroma is smooth with both honey and bourbon notes. The taste has smooth slick honey mixing with smooth bourbon booze and then more bourbon into the finish. firstsip (752) - Michigan, USA - OCT 3, 2013
Had at Brewed in Michigan (maybe it was the 3rd year? Couldn’t find anything saying one way or the other). A bit syrupy, but balanced bourbon sweetness. Not usually my thing, but not bad.
