Deep reddish brown body with a thin but clinging beige head. Light yet inviting aroma. Caramel, nuts, malt. I thought the palate was a bit thin but smooth. The flavor is excellent. Caramel and brown sugar tempered only slightly by a crisp fruit finish. Highly drinkable!

Bottle a month past the expiration date, pours from the bottle black with thin off white head, aroma honey with notes of roasting, bitter start with notes of honey and dry end

From old tasting notes. Huge tan head sits on top of a deep reddish brown liquid. Sweet toasted malt aroma has hints of earthiness and chocolate. Roasted malt flavor with a well balanced hop character. Good bittersweet undertones and caramel nuances. Nice dry hop finish.

Schwarz im Glas, kein Durchblick, cremige und sehr gut haltende Schaumkrone. Röstmalziger Antrunk, leichte Säure mit Kaffeenoten gepaart, Hopfenbittere im Abgang.

By far the best beer by the Monchshof brewery. In contrast to their other beers is this a nice aromatic, strong tasting beer with character. I enjoyed it!

Draft. Pitch black pour with a small beige head and good retention. Great lacing. Smooth and very dark roasted malt with no coffee flavors. Really good.

ebone1988 (1849) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - MAR 6, 2017
Aroma is caramel, dark fruit, leather, sweet, roasted malt. Appearance is dark brown, light tan head, slightly hazy. Taste is caramel, dark fruit, roasted malt, cereal, leather, bland, uneventful. Mouthfeel is might body, almost non-existent carbonation, dark fruit and leather aftertaste. Overall, eh. Pretty much what I expected, nothing special.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2017 Birra dal colore scuro tonaca di frate. Schiuma fine e persistente. All?olfatto sentori di malto tostato e caffè. Al palato corpo medio con note di cioccolato amaro, caffè e malto tostato. Nel finale rimane amara. Una buona birra.

Cavie (4652) - Arlington, Texas, USA - FEB 19, 2017
Swing top bottle. Dark brown to black color. Nearly opaque. Cloudy. Rocky head. Pleasant aroma, chocolate, roasted grain, biscuity malty. Flavor similar to a Munich Dunkel. Rich chocolate, roasted grain, medium body. Dark malt. Nice. Creamy mouthfeel.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2017 Ganske god mørk øl. Tilpas med sødme i smagen. Flot mørkt øl. Savner noget bitterhed.

Airlifter (134) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - FEB 1, 2017
Draft at the Flying Saucer, KC. Pours almost black with a little bit of off white head. First taste was sweet with a bit of bourbon and molasses flavors. Shortly after that my taste buds were set on fire by the San Miguel burger I had with the beer. A good beer that I need to try again without the spicy food to accompany it.
