Kulshan Porter is brewed in the Brown Porter style. Deep mahogany in color, the beer is topped with a rich mocha-colored head. The roasted barley aroma is accented with notes of coffee and chocolate. The flavor is smooth and silky with roasty-toasty grains blended with coffee, chocolate and a touch of toffee. The aftertaste is smooth and clean. Kulshan Porter is the perfect beer to pair with grilled meats, hearty stews and shellfish. Or try it with your favorite Bleu, Stilton or washed-rind cheese. For dessert, Kulshan Porter is just right with any kind of chocolate cake or a tart apple pie topped with a slice of cheddar and some ice cream.

Draft in Bellingham. Soft cream, dark cola brown. Battery acidic malt nose. Tart brown malt body, quite sweet with some odd unpleasant roast. Creamy, wet body. Average weight. Light chocolate on finish. Metallic sensation overall.

Bellingham, Wa - on tap at Kulshan. Nice topsoil and light creosote aroma. Solid light chocolate notes, hints of coffee, some creosote in the back end. Creamy mouthfeel. Good solid working man’s porter. Rating #8 of 2016 vacation.

kathouse (1930) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JAN 25, 2015
Deeper red than brown with a light tan head. Aroma is chocolate and toasted malts. Definitely more brown ale than porter with some roasted notes, but lots of toasted malt and residual sweetness. Finish is somewhat dry. Not what I expect from a porter.

IndianaRed (4936) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 19, 2014
On gtap at the original Bellingham tap room. Clear dark brown witiha thin sandy head. Nice soft light roasted chocolaty aromas and flavors. Well attenuated and clean. Like all their beers. Moderate tastey middle of the road Porter.

Red-brown, nice chocolatey aroma, some sweeter caramel malts, more chocolate.

Ratman197 (15204) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUL 30, 2014
Growler poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, bitter chocolate and earthiness with a smooth lingering bitter chocolate finish.

Ferris (16268) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 4, 2014
Draft - Chocolate dark malts and a bit of molasses. Jet black with a good rich beige head. Very thin dark malts and molasses with a bit of dark chocolate, starts nice but disappoints.

maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - JUN 20, 2014
Draught at WA Brewers Festival, 2014. Pours a dark brown color, though lighter than I expected. Nose is roasty and slightly bitter, but seems like a stock and unremarkable porter recipe at first. Taste is slightly bitter and roasty, and entirely forgettable.

fiulijn (21022) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 22, 2014
Draught at the brewery
Dark brown color, almost black, with creamy beige head. Roasted malt aroma. The flavor is also a bit chocolatey, and the muthfeel is smooth.
Nice Porter.
