Dark brown with reddish accents, and a low bubbly head. Lots of bitterness and a nicely roasty malt character with some burnt sugars. Ferris (16765) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 22, 2016
Draft - Lots of big pine and roast, jet brown with a nice beige head. Bitter pine and some roast. Very aggressive, but it works for me. madchemist83 (272) - USA - JAN 8, 2016
Slight citrus, smokiness, roasty caramel sweetness in the nose. Dark brown, tan head. Starts thin, roasted malt astrigency coupled with hop bitterness creates almost unpleasant experience. Finishes with malty caramel backbone. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - AUG 27, 2014

Chris and I both had ours out of pint glasses.
The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. The lacing was there with a fairly thick stringy speckling that ends up rolling down the sides of the glass.
The smell had some good rounded roasty coffee notes to let in a nice bitter citrus hoppiness rolling in nicely.
The taste combined those flavors nicely.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was good for the style and for me. Roasty and citrus bittersweet qualities rolled over my tongue.
Overall, this was a pretty good black ale that I would have again.

Dark brown color, creamy head. Very nice aroma of citrusy hops. Lean body; the mouthfeel is not too dry; delicate roasted malt flavor, and very good C-hops bitterness.
Very good, fresh offer.
Tap. Pours a very dark brown body with a small tight bubbled dark brown head that left lots of lacing. The nose is fairly light, some citrusy hops over a chocolate malt base. The flavor is a lot more bitter and hoppy than expected, very resiny and piney with a lighter chocolate maltiness. This one comes across as much more of an IPA than a Porter. Medium bodied with a moderate fizzy carbonation, sticky resiny finish. Pretty nice BIPA, big and intense hops. Dogbrick (14043) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 18, 2013
Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, citrus and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, nuts and citrusy hops. The finish is malty up front with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall. peteinSD (1468) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 20, 2013
Tap @ brewery. Dark brown pou with an off-white head. Light bitterness and roast in the aroma with some darker malt notes lurking in the finish. Taste is bitter with roast and light chocolate. Bit watery. Nice roast characteristics but somewhat lacking in the hops department. mcberko (19227) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 9, 2013
On tap at Kulshan Brewing, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, citrus hops, and a little candied sweetness. Flavour brings out medium roasted malts, some moderately harsh citrus hops, but not overly harsh as in some black IPAs. Well-balanced between malts and hops. Textbook, well-executed black IPA. Deep brown, small lasting beige head.Floral hop nose.Big piney hop profile, good earthy malt backbone.Long strong hop finish.Nice !!
