In short: A basic and clean pale beer full of fresh cereals.
How: Bottle shared directly at the brewery
The look: Mostly clear orange-amber body topped by a very small off-white head
In long: Didn’t take much notes on this one. Just that this beer was straightforward fresh cereals, citrusy notes, very clean, light noble hops presence, almost none of the farmhouse/toasted hay character of rural Lithuanian beers. To me this could pass as a basic German-inspired thirst strong lager. Pleasant and easy to drink even if not a whole lot is happening. Not much to say about this beer really, and I’m not sure what kind of information you are expecting to find when reading a rating like this one. I’m not saying that reading other people’s beer ratings is a waste of time but one thing for sure is you just wasted your time reading this last sentence.

(Rating #4220)

1L Bottle (Kupiskio Brewery)
Sweet choco-coated toffee sweets. A touch milky, but also quite mashy body. Some alcohol vapours are present, but it’s not boozy. Just a bit of gentle noble hop crispens up the experience. Nice balance between the heavier aspects and the lighter ones, but I think Keptinis remains my favourite.

My Bottom Line:
Citrusy, herbal and lightly toasted, this polished brew makes for a fine quencher.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the pale amber glow.
-The prickly effervescence is comfortable and increases drinkability.
-The flavor profile is subtle and leveled throughout.
-This is yet another refined and idiosyncratic brew from Kupiskio.

looks very nice. Hazy light brown/amber body with decent head,
aroma is malt and biscuits, rasins
nice full-bodied beer with malty base and some hop/yeast sourish bitterness, strong taste with some acid and carbonation, nice alc. content

Brandman (2962) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 18, 2011
Hazy copper body, large white head. Aroma of bitter berry juice, alcohol and sweet malt. Feels like your mouth is full of bitter foam. Bad.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2011 An even greater variety of flavors (maybe?) than the Salaus. Not all of them mix well together. There is some harsh cherry medicine, and juniper, quite strong. There is a dry herbality to the flavor not unlike Ricola - thyme. All of it doesn’t mesh well for me. The aroma is excellent - all hay and grass and some berry, lots of pepper - as is the body; freshness, color, liveliness, and the whole shebang. Challenging beers, these.

500 ml bottle. From Lithuania. Courtesy of Brandman.
Hazy deep golden colour with foamy off-white head. Spices, malt and honey in aroma. Alcohol and grassy bitterness in rather off-putting flavour. Foaming and fizzy.

larsga (7656) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 8, 2010
Huge offhwite head. Hazy yellow body with strong carbonation. Fruity earthy peach aroma with mealy banana notes. Sweetish-dry mealy grassy alcohol taste with dandelion and straw notes. Mid-bodied. Astringent mouthfeel. Dry-bitter grassy herbal mealy aftertaste lingers for a long time. Really nice, and highly unusual. I wonder what yeast they used, because it tastes vaguely Belgian. Quite bitter. (0.5l bottle, Bamb Alyne, Vilnius.)
