2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tall flip-top bottle: best before 15 Dec 2012. Poured (three times) into one of my Hannen Alt glasses @ home during a random tasting evening on 16 Nov 2012.
Looks reminded me of a cola with a head that stayed longer than normal: certainly that colour anyway.
Poor nose: just weak malt notes and an earthy whiff.
The taste is also on the weak side: mildly malty but no depth or ’umph’ to the brew at all, a big disappointment to be honest. Maybe it’s better fresh or on-tap, but I doubt it. The beer did seem to grow on me a little as I got used to its flavours, there was some bitterness to be found along with those malts mentioned earlier but it still didn’t cut the mustard as a good Alt in my eyes.
Tap @Kurzer (Düsseldorf-Germany). Clear amber with dark golden reflexes, irregular off white cap. Nose: dusty, a bit strange aroma of dirty room. Mouth: not much of caramel imo, again a strange feel, like chewing dirty leather. joergen (29216) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 7, 2017
Draught at the brewpub.
Clear orange colored with a medium sized off-white head.
Fruity aroma of malts, hay and hops with notes of bread.
Fruity flavor of hops, bread and hay.

On tap at Kurzer Dusseldorf. clear copper with a white head. Aroma of caramel and malt, earthy with some hops. Tastes malty, some mineral hoppiness, some grain. Full body, bitter, mineral finish. A bit better than goldstar.

Disclaimer: Being brought up on Altbier I cannot be regarded as 100% objective. Kürzer has manged - although being setup only recently - to be accepted and regarded as one of the core Altbier breweries in the heart of Düsseldorf's old city (which is where good Alt comes from and nowhere else). Has a medium bitterness to it and thus makes for a very enjoyable Altbier drinking session, best of course from tap in the brewery's outlet. kraddel (8890) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - AUG 29, 2017
Pous clear, bit darker copperamber. Small to regular white head, very stable and fluffy. Smell is rather weak, bit malty. Taste is corny, bit metallic , rather weak in. Onparancy to the other breweries’ alts.still not bad though.

Served on tap. Clear copper colour. Thick frothy lasting off-white foam. Herbal and sligtly grassy aroma. Malty and sligtly roasty flavour. The right amount of bitterness in order to balance the sweetness. The medium body and the medium carbonation well mask the 4.8% Abv. A complex and smooth altbier, probably one of the best altbiers in Düsseldorf. Rasmus40 (21990) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2017

Cask in the brewpub. Pours brown with a big frothy cream head. Toast aroma. The taste is more toast, slightly buttery. Decent. KimJohansen (10497) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - APR 21, 2017
Clear mahagony with a medium off white head. Aroma had roasted malt and hints of nuts. Flavor was dry and roasted with nuts and a soft mouthfeel. Finished bitter. Not bad! Tjeerd (618) - GERMANY - DEC 1, 2016
Yep, quite nice beer! Sweet caramelly taste, warm, round and lasting taste and aftertaste.
