Nothing too impressive here. Standard blonde with a fruity nose (expected for a Chardonnay beer). Maybe a little perfume too. Alcohol is not really hidden, maybe this would do good in a mulled drink? No apparent bitterness, just some grape tannins maybe (maybe not... I might be doing some associations). Would I drink again? Probably not. It is a stepup from the usual Barberie though. cfrancis (3536) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 19, 2012
Pours a light golden yellow with a frothy white top. Aroma is slightly fruity with distinct grain backing. Taste is light and fruity but nothing interesting. At the 2012 Winterlude Winter Beers and Wines. manul255 (47) - Montmagny, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 16, 2011
This beer sucks, pretty bad aromas and flavors, a mix between pale malts, dms and Harfang des Neiges. Good decent look however. This one came from my brother. Thanks a lot Stefan. I owe you a hot potato:)

Originally rated May 2009. Thanks to Driss for this one (brought back from Quebec City). Comes in a wine bottle, hence the Chardonnay. Pours a hazy rich golden colour with a white wine head and has good lacing. Kind of smells like a witbier (or a blond on the lees) with some other scent I cannot put my tongue on (like cheese or almost farm aromas). The wine is present in the taste. Sparkling mouthfeel with blonde malt. The alcohol is very well hidden. Interesting beer, mixing the Chardonnay and beer together. One of the better brews from La Barberie. czar (9338) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 2, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2014 re-rate (6 months old bottle): pours hazy light golden with a very decent and stable white head leaving some nice lacing patterns. yeast-plenty - feels like champagne yeast, some astringency, white grapes and white port, light oakiness, pepper, grass, wheat, spices, oranges. moderate sweetness. lively to average carbonation, light body - oily, drying grassy-spicy finish. very nice product. thanks yann. UPDATED: AUG 1, 2010 Aroma : Best part of this brew. Powerful fruity aroma propelled by the excessive Co2. Bananas, grapes but somewhat cheap white wine.
Appearance : Pretty golden robe, a bit orange on the edges, crowned by a rich foam that mostly disappears after a short while.
Taste : Classic blonde with a good hop presence in the back. Refreshing stuff. On the downside, it tastes a little like cheap white wine and a bit too fruity.
Mouthfeel : Alright mouthfeel. Way too carbonated.
Overall : All in all, a decent blonde, but a bit unbalanced by the hoppiness and the CO2. Still, pretty refreshing. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 12, 2010
In short: A cross between a yeasty blonde ale and the cheapest of white-wine. Berk.PhilippeRoy (2) - DENMARK - FEB 6, 2010 does not count
How: Bottle 750ml. Age unknown, probably fresh. Left behind in my fridge by someone after a night of drinking. I swear I don’t drink Barberie brews!!
The look: Clear golden topped by a medium head with low retention
In long: The nose is yeasty with notes of white grapes. Taste is initially not so bad but with every sip the sweet the bad stuff was piling on my taste buds. Weird how it really got worse and worse. There is a basic yeasty blonde beer in there with also an ok flavour of orange cookies. But the bad stuff is a taste of cheap white-wine and also those sweet fruity shooters that they sell in stupid sports-bar. Berk! And to think a friend brought that expensive beer to my place probably to try to impress “the beer-geek”. Barberie really make some the shittiest beer in Quebec. I am too polite the tell the brewer to get lost. But given the opportunity I will however give him bad directions.
A very nice beer, with a high amount of co2, hence bubbles. It is fresh and a nice beer to relax with.
