750 mL bottle. A lovely, clear copper-orange with a thick, off-white head. It fades, but never fully disappears. Lots of active bubbles. Fruity sweetness (peaches and sweet apple) with some citrus and grassy malt on the nose doesn’t add up to much. The grape shows up in the flavour and the aftertaste, and it’s more of a dryish grape juice than a wine flavour. The malt hides underneath, and is a little thin. A (surprisingly) little alcohol appears at the end. Quite heavily carbonated, and not as full as it should be. An interesting one; not great, but certainly worth a try.

Blonde doré. Fruité. Légère chaleur d'alcool. Caramel. Très sucré. Effervescence a grosse bulle. Un peu épicé. Raisin sec. Florale. Pas mauvais.

On tap at Vices et Versa, hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a shy white head, with floral hop,, fruity, chardonnay grapes aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a sweet acidic chardonnay grapes, tartness and winey accent, leading to a dry sirupy vinous finish.

Bottle (750ml). Shared by blankboy with gregclow, jerc, mabel & tupalev. Clear pale amber, small wispy whitish head. Aroma reminds me of a dry, light hefeweizen - fruity (banana, apple) and mildly spicy - sweet and clean. Taste - strong apple, slightly oxidized, mild alcohol (10%? really?), sweet yeast, light banana, but a little thin. Weak body, mild carbonation, slightly papery in the finish - has that "Quebec" character I can’t define --- but it’s there.

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, mabel & tupalev - courtesy of blankboy. Bright golden with a small white head. Aroma is sourish and slightly yeasty, with that indescribable note that appears in so many middle-rate Quebec beers. Thin body. Flavour has fruity notes of chardonnay, a bit of spice, mild yeast - kinda reminds me of a saison, actually. Not too bad despite the so-so aroma - although I find the 10% alc hard to believe, seems more like 6% or 7% to me.

750 ml bottle, courtesy of my brother - pours hazy yellow/orange, with some sediment. Wheaty aroma, and somewhat cidery too. Sour, but not off. Flavour of strong Belgian-style blond (Duvel-ish) mixed with wine. Bine? Wier? This is a strange one - not something I’d get again, but happy to have tried it out.

750ml bottle. Pours hazy orange with huge head. Lots of carbonation on the glass. Aroma is spicy and fruity (orange). Taste is a bit dry (white wine like). Taste is light green grapes (white wine like). Low carbonation on the palate. Alcohol completely hidden. Interesting beer. Glad I’ve tried it. Rating #42.

Arch (11) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 5, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2010 Aroma : Best part of this brew. Powerful fruity aroma propelled by the excessive Co2. Bananas, grapes but somewhat cheap white wine. Appearance : Pretty golden robe, a bit orange on the edges, crowned by a rich foam that mostly disappears after a short while. Taste : Classic blonde with a good hop presence in the back. Refreshing stuff. On the downside, it tastes a little like cheap white wine and a bit too fruity. Mouthfeel : Alright mouthfeel. Way too carbonated. Overall : All in all, a decent blonde, but a bit unbalanced by the hoppiness and the CO2. Still, pretty refreshing.

My Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev. 2008 vintage. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-orange with an average size white head. Aroma’s sweet and yeasty along with a bit of fruit and spices. Flavour’s the same: Sweet, yeasty and fruity but I find the lightly hoppy finish a little iffy, not sure why. I get no alcohol at all which is impressive -- is this really 10%? Average bodied. Nothing great but still decent, I didn’t mind it.
