Had so many in Benin. It’s a normal african Lager, helps to survive the local heat bartlebier (4013) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - FEB 8, 2017
66cl delabeled bottle with La Beninoise cap, no bb - kindly supplied by postcolonially well-connected idiosynkrasie mersi bwana kitoko. - partly sadly this barely survived a rush from the fridge, landing in my glass only at a homeopathic dose: Spent sour mash and white bread dough survive in this quenchingly watery macro pale lager with pockets of sweet grain quality. Only minimal sulphurs and metallics aka probably a liquid blessing under le soleil beninois. Idiosynkrasie (7609) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - AUG 4, 2016
660ml bottle [A very big thanks to Aziz for another piece filling the West African puzzle!]. Clear, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, white head. Quite expressionless, strawy aroma, a touch of grainy spiciness. Taste is grassy-strawy, minimally metallic, dry hints of green apple parings; bitter finish, lively carbonation. Simple, straightforward, refreshing even in temperate zones. minutemat (5662) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 9, 2015
630ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, Dec 15, brought all the way back from Benin by Clement! Merci! Pours bright clear gold, foam head. Grassy aroma. Taste was surprisingly not that bad. Clean and perfectly drinkable, if grassy and slightly unremarkable. For what it is and where’s it’s brewed I could happily drink a few of these. 63cl Bottle: shared between 5 at the December 2015 meeting of the Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group or whatever we call ourselves. Cheers Mat and his extended family for this new country tick for us all. Nice enough Lager actually, clear and bright golden look with the usual white fading head on top. Semi-sweet flavour with some grass and gain notes in both the aroma and taste. Would never have guest this came from Africa.
