COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Choulette Ambrée is the classic amber version of a French bières de gardes. It has a wonderfully spicy aroma and is fullflavored, but effervescent and refreshing.

Maltier than most bières de gardes that I have and a little bit oktoberfest in character. Bought this in Indianapolis. Page 269 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide only 344 out of 500 Classic Brews to go.

Sweet malt . Some sweet fruity notes. Reddish brown color with nice thick head. Nice, almost nutty malt flavor. There are hints of "funk" that compliment the malt flavor but are not overpowering. Some spicy almost peppery notes as well. Pleasant aftertaste of sweet malt. No hints of the 8% alcohol in the aroma, flavor, or aftertaste. Nice enjoyable beer that is very drinkable.

Bottle from Beers of the World. Pours amber, with TONS of floaties. Huge off white head that lasts and lasts. The nose has caramel, toffee, wheat. Impressive looking beer. Taste is sweet - sugar, caramel, and heavy malts. Hops are noticeably lacking. My first beer from La Choulette, and I am impressed. World class Biere de Garde.

Bottle. Pours amber with a handsome white head. Lots of deep malt aroma similarly malty flavour. There’s a yeast bound spiciness. Reminiscent of a belgian blonde but without the esthers. Comparable to a doppelbock but less of a toffee edge. Bags of caramel. Very flavoursome indeed.

May 2008: 75cl Green cork and caged bottle, poured into two Corsendonk stemmed tulip shaped glasses. The pour was in one almost smooth action, but the second glass ended up with a few pieces of sediment. Otherwise the beer was a lovely amber, a little lighter than a typical Belgian Amber beer but with the same good biege foaming head. The beer was opened 4 months after the Best Before Date. The aroma was like a fairly sweet malty biscuit straight out of the oven. Good flavours throughout, this is a well balanced beer and I really enjoyed it. The 8% doesn’t knock your socks off, but you know it’s there. The French beer scene is a lot better than most poeple realise, this is a good example of what they are missing.

75cl bottle. Pours a dark coppery brown with a medium, beige head. Aroma is earthy and malty. A lot of breadiness, a dab of dark fruits, prunes and plums. Somewhat herbal. Taste is semisweet, earthy with a lot of dark malts and breadiness. Dark bread and dark fruits. Prune, apple on the finish. Nettles and black currant on the aftertaste. Spiciness. Soft, smooth and medium. Not much in the way of carbonation. Could be a bit fuller. Finally a French Bière de Garde that has a good character of its own.

TEJA (3349) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUN 6, 2017
Bottle from Systembolaget, Sweden. Nice fluffy beige head. Clear amber color with a nice sparkle. Fruity aroma from forest fruits with a nice spicy hoppines. Fruity ligering taste with tiny sweetness and a crisp body. Small bitterness and nice for a warm summerday.

Leini (2079) - SWEDEN - JUL 2, 2017
750ml bottle. Amber body with a medium white head. Aromas of caramel, spices, floral notes and some burnt sugar. Taste is more spicy and grainy, with the sweet notes more in the background. Some notes of fresh wood and basement. A bit too much alcohol presence in the flavor though imo. Lively carbonated.

bottle @ home clear dark amber chestnut, cream head caramel, belgian yeasts, passion fruit, black cherry juice, nut carbonation, monchery, black cherry liquor, dark chocolate, light caramel, walnut
