COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stronger, fuller flavored version of the classic bière de garde. The New York Times (your Paper of Record) just anointed this beer the ultimate bière de garde, and rightly so. It’s a rich, rare treat from one of France’s old guard craft breweries. Be there or be square.

Ungstrup (37861) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUN 3, 2006
A hazy amber beer with a thin light orange head. The aroma is malty with notes of wood, while the flavor is sweet malty with notes of over ripe fruits and wood. Somewhat boring.

Papsoe (25062) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 1, 2005
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2005 (Bottle 75 cl) Ruby-red or perhaps rather mahogany? Slightly hazy. Very full-bodied, lots of malts and a caramel-like sweetness. Has a somewhat vinous touch - sherry? Fine - albeit discreet - bitterness to give balance. Typical rusic biere de garde-character. A true Christmas beer. 230405

harrisoni (18800) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - NOV 27, 2006
75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Clear mid ruby colour with lasting beige head. The rich dark fruits are slightly sour on the aroma, along with a bit of choc. Plums and cherries also. Moderate fullness in mouth supported by some great syrupy fruit which never gets too much. Fruit is quite intense. Not too much boiled sweet which some of these beers suffer from. Finish has a bit of dryness almost a bit of powder. Fruit is prettygood. Syrupy but great. And a bit of spice, nutmeg/cinnamon.

saxo (18738) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - DEC 29, 2013
Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are fruits, caramel, malt and hops. Sweet finish.

TBone (17676) - Pori, FINLAND - FEB 25, 2007
Bottled 0.75l (BB 06/2008)
Copper brown, small white head. Malty, grassy nose. Caramelly, grassy hoppy and sweetish. Not very Christmasy. Like a combination of typical bière de garde and a bock.
