COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stronger, fuller flavored version of the classic bière de garde. The New York Times (your Paper of Record) just anointed this beer the ultimate bière de garde, and rightly so. It’s a rich, rare treat from one of France’s old guard craft breweries. Be there or be square.

Frothy fruitiness of pomegranates and strawberries strive for candyish levels of sweetness and sometimes succeed...Smoky malt fumes languidly hover over rummy spiciness...Blatant proof that French Noël beers are of very distinct constitution than that of their northern neighbours, but can still offer interesting sweet quaffers...

Hazy dark copper with a big grassy hop aroma and tomato-like undertone. Nice flavor though featuring a sort of toffee biscuit note. The tomato tone is just slightly there on the aftertaste though. Unfortunate.

Bottle. Off white head. Dark red brown body. Very spicy aroma with hints of vanilla. Caramel, raisin smooth flavor, low carbonated. Definately a surprise.

bottle, many thanks to jaghana. Clear amber colour, mid-sized off-white head. Shy aroma of malt with fruity accents. Quite dry and hoppy, thoiugh not too bitter. Shy malty background, slightly grainy. The hop character is dusty with herbal accents. Good.

Bottle. Caramel colored beer with a light tan head. Caramel and light yeast aroma. Caramel and light yeast/light spice flavor with light candied fruit. Medium bodied. Caramel and light candied fruit lingers with light spice and light yeast.

[975-20071215] 1pt9.4floz (Holiday Tasting 2007 @ Cole’s, Buffalo, NY). Strange boozy grass yeast malt aroma has a bit of fresh plant leaf. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Sweet boozy malt grain flavour has a hint of paint can. Boozy medium body. Awesome with Buffalo chicken wings.

750ml bottle at the Bayou shared with MikeJ. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a medium white head. A sweet spicy nose with some caramel and cherries. The flavor is very nice; smooth spices, cloves, a decent amount of hops, light fruit, quite sweet with biscuit and caramel. Very smooth, a great Holiday brew.

Bottled. A dark amber coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. The aroma is thick and gluey. Some brown bread and heavy malts. A really really chewy mouthfeel. Malty and bready. Quite sweet. Not sure why this is called a Christmas beer. Overridingly chewy.

12/1/10. 750mL bottle courtesy Lance. Caramelled raisin aroma and flavor with hints of bitter herbs and nuts... not bad!
