August 2017 - Bottle share at Chriso's Pre-GBBF Shindig. Thanks! As 'La Débauche Cognac Barrel (XO Barrel)', 9.5%. Very nice label artwork going on here. Dark brown with an orange hue, sparkling with a foamy brown head. Aroma is toffee, orange zest and resin. Body is a little frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is intense toffee and caramel, caramelised sugars, cognac booze, a touch harsh on the booze and oak vibes, some paraffin notes. (7-4-6-3-15=3.5)

Bottle, 33cL. 9.5%. From saveur-biere.com. @Naintré, shared with my dad. Tasting comparison with classic Cognac Barrel. A sparkling dark brown beer with red hues with a big beige foamy head (oily look) ; good retention. Wood, vanilla, light caramel, alcohol note and something else. Medium round sweet, light warming, light dry "spicy". Full body, thin texture, soft carbonation, light dry warming spicy finish. Overall, great ! Comprared to the classic, less "vinous" dried fruits character, more subtle, vanilla notes, more elegant.

Deep dark ruby body, small white head. Aroma of caramel, candied fruit, maderisation, wood, alcohol. Flavours of multiple layers of caramel malt with dried and candied fruits, maderisation, wood, different layers of alcohol. Medium bitter backbone. Long sweet and warm caramel and wood finish, quite bitter too. Full body, low cabo. Long woody bitter aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
