COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A black robe as the night, a beautiful coffee-colored foam, all supported on quantity of roast malts. This oatmeal stout bodied and offers a fruity and chocolate. A dry finish leaves a slight bitter break which ends with the return of the roasted barley.

on tap on the premises. hazy medium dark brown pour with a small creamy light beige cap offering some retention and lacing. peppery berries, hint of smoked browned malts, spices, caramel but never overwhelming, demerara, lots of pepper. moderate carbonation, light body - nice oiliness; semi-sweet pepepry finish. decent average sweet stout.

My Bottom Line:
Blackberry fruitiness, roasted cereals and coffee connotations meld in this highly personable Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the dark brown-edged black.
-The soft, low carbonation almost emulates a handpump.
-This is very drinkable.
-The nose is nicely bright.

On tap at the brewpub.

On tap at brewpub. Pours black with a short lived beige head. Aroma is roast, chocolate. Flavor is coffee, dark grapes. Finish is coffee, but real bitter. Light body, watery mouthfeel, weak carbonation. A bit too lackluster in flavor and body for my liking...

(Rating #4551)

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2012 Drank on tap (20 oz) at the brewpub on July 10, 2012. Black, small beige head. Aroma of roasted barley and coffee, some chocolate notes. Fruity bitter taste of coffee, a little toasted, aftertaste of bitter chocolate. A stout faithful to its style!

In short: A standard session roasted, chocolate & coffee coffee stout of superior quality.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention
In long: Strong roasted nose strong cocoa powder notes. In mouth the beer proposes a lot of roasted malts, burnt toasts, not-so-bitter black chocolate, roasted coffee beans, minimal hops presence. The roasted finish is overall a bit dry and chalky. The medium carbonation fitted the beer very well. This was a flavorful stout and its relative dryness made it very sessionnable. A nice stout from a brewpub I had never been to before. Visiting new brewpubs is probably one of my favorite hobby, second only to walking in my neighbourhood and sliding "I know what you did" notes under the wipers of random cars.
