On tap at the source. Full glass, my nightcap and my first disappointment. Hazy murky grapefruit juice with a quickly receding off white head. Some tropical and stone fruits but a bit of a grassy and vegetative presence detracts from that. Big caramel maltiness should be a bit more restrained. I finished it, but wouldn’t order it again.

(Rating #5963)

On tap at brewpub. An almost clear pale orange amber with a resilient white head. Aroma is fruity. Flavor is malt, cereals, caramel and pepper. Finish is spicy, very peppery, menthol, hot peppers. Lingering resin, caramel, and citrus (grapefruit). Medium to full body, average carbonation.

My Bottom Line:
Peachy fruitiness and toasted angles are swiftly taken over by an excessively green second half in this rough Double IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the cloudy pale amber.
-Some caramel sweetness is felt underneath.
-The leafy hop aftertaste is lengthy.
-This brew seemed to have same hop issues as their Métisse Black IPA that day.
-This lacks brightness and aroma for the style.

On tap at the brewpub.
