Bottle, from the cidery, bought in 2012. Cloudy, light brown. To be fair, it doesn’t look like much. Oxidized appley aroma, with delicate spiciness....but not the sticky syrups I associate with face cachée. Sweet, with a caramelized, sirop de Liège character with deep dark caramelized fruits. fiulijn (21274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 8, 2014
Tasting at Ferris’, corked bottle, vintage 2009, 5 years old, 13% ABVmcberko (18998) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 21, 2014
Hazy amber color. The aroma shows some more stewed apples than usual, hazelnuts, light alcohol; interestingly, there is some fudge too. Caramelly apple flavor, nice acidity level, more pungent than other ciders from the cidery, a bit astringent, and lemony, in the final.
375mL bottle, pours a hazy dark orange with a tiny head. Aroma is complex, with caramelized apples, toffee, brown sugar, and some heat – smells decadent. Flavour is uber complex, with woody notes, caramelized apples, and brown sugar. Amazingly elegant, with a more woody quality to it than other Le Face Cachee de la Pomme products. Wonderful stuff. Bottle 375ml.
Pours slightly "hazy" golden with no head. Aroma is of apples, cheese, caramel, underlying sugars. Taste is of caramel, apples, tart, alcohol, butter, lots of alcohol. Palate: Full bodied. No carbonation. Overall: Good, but very boozy. Lots of apples/sugar. JulienHuxley (5951) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 18, 2014
Sample at Tom’s. Hazy brown pour. Aroma of apple sauce, rich spicy apple pie notes. Taste is nice and warming really nice apple flavor, fruity appleness, low alcohol, really fruit forward. Really tasty stuff. tom10101 (6267) - Quebec, CANADA - SEP 15, 2014
Bottle (375 ml). Vintage 2009. Hazy deep amber/golden with nice legs. Aroma is interesting and quite different than most La Face Cachée with ripe apples, white wine, nice tartness, alcohol and light sweetness. Taste is moderately sweet with ripe apples, nice tartness, alcohol and light earthy bitterness. Full bodied. Juicy. A tad oily too. Slightly tannic finish. Light pepperiness. Another impressive product by La Face Cachée. Super tasty. Mouthfeel is awesome. I loved it! jackl (8425) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 27, 2014
Sample @ RBWG, Asheville. Thanks to MaxxDaddy!!! Slightly hazy deep golden amber pour with a small head. Crazily intense condensed apple. Musty and earthy apple skin. These ice ciders don’t mess about. The taste is a wallop of hot honey and crisp red apple. Simple, but amazingly agreeable. Medium body, oily and slick. Great stuff. 2013-01-18 - with blankboy, jercraigs & mabel - 375ml clear bottle c/o J&K. 2007 vintage. Hazy refractive gold, not much head, nice legs. Aroma - ahhhhh - ripe apple, a hint of light white wine, a nice bit of musty tartness, definite alcohol - classy and yerm yessir moresir. Taste is wonderful - perfectly balanced light tartness and sweet ripe acidic apple, no bitterness or over-the-top booziness, just smoothness and goodness. Slick, thick, not much carbonation but why would there be? - ear-warming warmth, an aftertaste to bring a smile to the lips (which are still a bit sticky - shut up! that’s not what she said!) ... one of the most enjoyable ice ciders I have ever had.
