UPDATED: JAN 29, 2011 Bottle 330ml. Great beer. Earthly aromas, with caramel, chocolate, raisins, and butter. Sweet taste, with bitter notes, and some acidity. Palate is creamy, with lively carbonation, and medium-to-full body. Dark brown, with a frothy white head that lasts long.

this is a crowd pleaser in the dubbels, its a joy to drink, nice and clear, maybe a little bit too amber. This is a very commercial taste of subtile fruits and sweets in a mix with hoparomas

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2004 Re-rate: Bottled 0.3 liter, BB 2001. Approximately 6 years old and the beer still gushed out after opening, unbelievable! Dark brown coloured, thick lasting head. Wonderful aroma, malts, rye, nuts, dried fruits, it's all there. Flavour is not as impressive as aroma, but still pretty complex. Thick mouthfeel, lot of alcohol. Lasting dry finish. This one ages very well. Original rate: Wow... I was expecting just another dubbel but this one's something else! Big head, amber brown. Very thick, sweet and full mouthed. Strong sweet/dry finish. Good balance. Reminded me of Chimay Blue.

dark brown colour with ruby notes and huge creamy beige-ish head; aroma of dried berries, some apple, caramel, biscuit and hints of honey; taste of caramel, biscuit, less intensive fruitiness, and some minimal alcohol; excellent dubbel

Very sweet aroma and sweet, malty taste with a slight roastiness at the end, just the way I like. Beautiful colour and ferocious head. Great aftertaste, really enjoyed it.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2006 Rerate. Bottle conditioned, BB 21st june 2001. Upon opening, the beer gushes out of the bottle. Thnx to jerohen, who warned me for this, i did not spill much of the beer. It pours a cloudy brownish beer, big off-white rocky and creamy head. Aroma is quite strong, the aging process can be noticed. Some caramel malts, spicy as in dry nuts like walnuts, some nutmeg, port wine, some alcohol. Taste is sweet roasted malts, walnut again, some alcohol burn in the beginning, moderately bitter. Full mouthfeel, complex character. A perfect to beer to age!!! Original rating: 4. Dark color, lasting creamy head. Fruity malty aroma. Bit licorice, whisky? Maybe, at least it is different than others. Sweet malty taste, slightly alcoholic, but in a smooth way. Bittersweet palate, but pleasant.
