UPDATED: NOV 3, 2017 Really dark almost black pour with huge tan head. Milk chocolate up front for smell, followed by coffee with cream and sugar. Espresso taste, cocoa, burnt sugar and a light smokyness. Medium body with fair amount of carbonation. Lovely porter, great after dinner beer.

Gangstergafje (1309) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - OCT 29, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 15, 2017 29-10-2017; bottle; at home (bought somewhere in Rotterdam, The Netherlands).
The looks of the beer are perfect. It has everything that a Porter should have. Lovely. The beer is pitch black on the eye. In the light there is a slight ruby red and brown glow. Not bad. On top of the beer there is a nice layer of almond coloured foam. Very nice.
The smell of the beer is lovely. It is the perfect Porter smell. It is rich, full and thick. I smell lovely rich malts, giving several strong aromas. Toasted and roasted barley, chocolate, salted caramel and some coffee. I smell a slight hint of oakwood. The strong and clear malts are enhanced by a nice fruity and bitter hop note. Nice, and fresh. I like it.
The taste of the beer also is lovely. Full, rich and strong. I taste full malts, with flavours like toasted malt, chocolate, salted caramel, coffee, some red fruits and blueberry (not to strong) and also some oak wood. The strong malts are balanced by some hops. They give some simple refreshing bitters. Not to special, but just nicely balancing.
The beer has a nice palate. Full body, smooth, slightly creamy and low carbonation. The finish of the beer is lovely. It has a very nice vanilla touch, chocolate, caramel, full caramel and a fresh hoppy touch. So, in the end, a lovely Porter. Very good, full and rich. I like.
