Draft 0.15l at Vrteska festival II Belgrade, Serbia. Thanks everybody for sharing beers. 05.05.2017. Pour it dark color with small white head. Aroma of chocolate. Taste of caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, licorice and raisin, medium to heavy sweetness, medium body, sticky, soft carbonation, long finish, interesting.

Bottle from deCaigny in Essen, Belgium.
The beer is dark brown to black colored and has a large, sticky creamy foam, with good carbonation.
The aroma is very malty and with a lot of caramel. Also notes of roasted malts, dark fruits and raisins, chocolate and hints of spices.
The taste is full bodied with medium maltiness-sweetness and has notes of caramel, red fruits, dried fruits and changes into a light dryness with chocolate, coffee and some spices.
The finish is light dry and bitter with chocolate and coffee notes.
Very nice brew!

On tap at Vrteška 2017. Pours brown with beige head. Caramel, malty, dried fruit, some chocolate. Quite sugary and sweet even a bit sticky. Medium bodied. Not bad at all, but too sweet for me.

On tap at Vrteška. Brown body, no head, eh. A blast of strawberry jam hits you in the aroma immediately and holds through, lovely maltiness, simple but effective. The same strawberry jam notes continue in the taste, fresh. Heavy but very drinkable for the style and the ABV, really liked it.

330 ml bottle bought at ICBeer in Kwun Tong.

Looks: Clear deep amber brown colour with a layer of dirt like yeast sediments; Near zero head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Fair sticky lacing with barely notable slight carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant and sweet full malt, with very strong plums and raisins, dark fruits, plum wine, caramel, toffee, chocolate, light mustiness, floral, strong brown sugar, dry bread, yeast and light grass. Very nice!

Taste: Medium sweet dark malt, with strong roastyness, strong nuts, strong caramel, dark fruits, Cola, chocolates, light coffee, floral, molasses, light dough, dry biscuits, yeast, light lemon, very light bitter hops and grass.

Body: Close to medium body. Dry and thin palate.

Mouth Feel: Very solid dark maltyness in a somewhat thin background, slightly watery and Cola-ish. Good nutty roastyness with strong caramel and lesser dark fruits complimented by some good light coffee and chocolates. Flowery with moderate sweetness (surprise!), 8% booze is very well hidden, doughty yeasty with light lemon to round. Very artsy and nice!

Hoppiness: Floral and light grass in nose and taste; Bitterness is light but notable for a lasting, fairly astringent doughty dark malty finish.

After Taste: Dry. Nutty, fruity and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: I said this is artsy for a Doppelbock, and sure enough it’s nothing quite like the usual straight forward German ones - very plum winey aroma, dry roasty nutty dark malt taste reminds me of Ayinger’s Celebrator. With straight-jacketed booze and sweetness, this one feels more of a barley wine, and it’s Spanish. Very enjoyable!

Ahornsiroop in de geur. Leuk zurig, hout, geroosterde karamel. Zeer moutig.

Nice! Erg goed!
