Pours clear brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head that soon disappears. Aroma has caramel, light liqourice, some almonds, light berries.Light carbonation, fair mouthfeel. Flavour is a bit dry, caramel, some liqourice. Very much a bock-type beer. Quite sweet caramel. Pretty dull, though.
Bottle. Weak aroma of caramel malt and raisins. Clear redbrown colour with light brown head. Plenty of malt and bread in flavour and by no means heavy in flavour. Slightly spiced. caesar (7170) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - SEP 9, 2009
Bottled, brought by a friend. Bottle mentions also: biere noire. Dark color, short head. Aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit, blackcurrant, some rye. Malty taste, bit sweet. It is more close to a porter, than to a biere de garde (it even says so on the bottle, so I don’t know why it is mentioned a biere de garde here...) eManu (548) - Kuala Lumpur & Brussels, BELGIUM - MAR 20, 2009
Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malts. Flavors are roasted malts and dry fruits with a smoky finish. Its a little bitter and not sweet. I try this on draft and also by the bottle, the draft is a lot nicer. Still a very special beer. fonefan (50637) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JAN 18, 2009
