Bottled. A deep murky brown beer with a huge beige head. The aroma is malty and has notes of sugary dried fruits and dusty hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, prunes, dark fruits, malt, spices and a little noble hops. Body is medium, carbonation is average, texture is thick/oily. Dry finish. Good craftmanship, but coming from the brewey of Rulles Estivale, this is a disappointment.

Dark brown with off-white head. Fruity and malty. It’s pretty basic but ok. I’d say it’s not that xmassy.

Bottle from Asahiya. Fruit and carmel nose, raisins, plum, some earthy, citrus hops, spicy too.  Medium ornge-brown with a fine, fluffy head. Chocolate, caramel, dry, dusty, earthy hopping, and a very dry and quite bitter finish. Cocoa, a bit of coffee too. Very hoppy in an original way. Light, clean pallate, though full and smooth. Very interesting, hoppy and bitter, to balance the chocolate sweetness. Nice.

750 ml bottle. BBE 02/2012.
Pours a deep amber colour with a thick white head. Aroma of raisins, Christmassy spices and some sour-like notes. Flavour of toasted malts, sweet raisins, Christmassy spices, licorice, nuts and wood. Medium bodied, thick mouthfeel and a warming, fruity and spicy finish. Nice.

750 ml bottle from Bieropholie, shared with Phil, served cool in a tulip glass. 25NO11.

App.: Cloudy deep copper with a decent reddish-tan head. Aroma: Strong, luxurious fruits, dark dried fruits, light citrus peel, brown sugar, a little alcohol, a touch of butterscotch, pretty nice. Palate: Medium body, limited, relaxed effervescence. Flav.: Nice fruity malts, brighter fruits, a touch tropical, plenty of stewed dried fruits, brown sugar, citrus peel, nice; off-dry with minimal bitterness and a fairly long, malty/fruity finish.

Very friendly.

12 ounce sample on tap at øl in Walnut Creek. The aroma is faintly sweet with some light, fruity esters. Mild spiciness, but this is a pretty faint aroma all together. Transparent amber body with a medium off-white head present. Good lacing. Starts with some berry-like yeast esters. Pleasant fruitiness. Becomes a little oaky, woody, and almost papery in the middle. Seems a little oxidized. Finishes with late mild roastiness and spiciness. Spices are non-descript, and I can’t tease these out. This is ok, but it just sort of seems a little bland and forgettable.

Draft at the Birch. Deep reddish orange. Nice poofy head. Spicy aroma, enticing indeed. Wow this is delicious. Orange zest, brown sugar, perfume ... And then a mellow, neutral finish. Excellent. (#4370, 11/26/2011)
