COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

750ml bottle at Stu’s. Gusher! Once it settled down, poured hazy gild with a thick white head. Aromas are spicy, bready, honey and just picking up the rosemary. Taste brings more spice and fruit. Really interesting beer.

Bottle at home. Way overcarbonated, golden, rosemary and spices on nose, light honey, taste is sweet, salty, spiced, rich honey.

Un original toque de romero. Se supone que también tiene miel de romero, pero no la hace nada dulce. Tomar muy fria.

At first taste, it hit me with a beer full of condiments, and it didn't disappoint! It has traces of rosemary, spices and black pepper. The hint of honey balances the initial strong flavor. This is one of the most unique beers I have tasted. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour is a cloudy almost pink with a large white head. Lots of floaties as well. Aroma is very herbal and sweet with notes of the honey. Flavor is holy rosemary! Lots of rosemary with a definite honey sweetness lingering in the back round. There is lots of herbal flavorings going on here and if that’s not your thing I could see that bringing down the score but for me put rosemary on everything, I love it.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2016 33 cl bottle dated Best By Feb. 2015 served in a snifter: Revisited in October 2015 with a 750 ml bottle. Pours hazy, medium copper-amber with a moderately thick, bone-colored head that has excellent retention. Some solids detract from the appearance. Aroma: unusual spicy aroma with a clear note of rosemary. Too much suggestion of soap for me. Flavor: Spicy with rosemary, some ginger, and hints of honey and white pepper. Although i don’t like rosemary very much, the mix of flavors here works fairly well, albeit with a bit more rosemary than desired. Lightly sweet and modestly refreshing, with a lingering spicy aftertaste featuring ginger and rosemary. Feel: excellent soft feel with a semi-dry finish.

Pours a hazy golden amber with thick head. Honey, herbs on the nose. Heavily carbonated. Honey, citrus, spices, ginger--weird mix of flavors. No hoppy bitterness. An odd, interesting beer.

330ml bottle from Kris Wines. Really didn’t get this at all. Pours a murky brown with frothy patches instead of a head, aroma brought rosemary, pot pourri, herbs, honey and butterscotch.. taste brought much the same with a disturbing herbal / butterscotch sweetness that just tastes wrong. If this was a blind taste I would’ve dismissed it as a diacetyl-tainted sinkpour, but considering the ingredients I’m assuming this is what was intended. Not for me I’m afraid.

Fancy green 750. Tons of rosemary inthe flavor which brings to mind other spices and works.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a real nice rosemary note with sweet grains and bit of dry honey. Flavor is similar with honey and rosemary working together and a sweet grain backbone.
