La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

Bottle @ Cerveseria Arte&Sana, Malaga. Pours clear orange with a small white head. Very weak aromas. Almost nothing there at all, but I detect some malt and grain. Sweet flavours of ginger, honey, herbs and orange. Fruity finish. Soft mouth feel.

The rosemary and honey notes are clearly appreciable in the aroma but are more subtle in the palate. Tan head and cloudy amber appearance. Not very fizzy, medium body and long aftertaste.

Experimental artisanal beer, not so much of success in this experiment that I can notice. Even the small parts of some herbs is visible. Herbs usually don’t improve beer, this one included. Cloudy gray-green orange colour is not promising at all. Small top also. Spicy cardamom aroma and rosemary, thyme and even chilli. A taste of some arabic tea is not good choice for the beer. Bad attempt to be extravagant. But, it is possible to drink it, and because of the ambition I would rate it a little bit more than it deserves.

11.2oz bottle. Pours a thick white head and will foam over if you manhandle the bottle. Bottle conditioned so yeast is present if you overturn the bottle. Strong aroma of rosemary and a touch of herbaceous; almost like holy water. Light mouthfeel with forward hoppiness. Bright carbonation and a quick finish on the palate. Would pair excellently with a soft cheese.

Orange color with a white lasting head. Aroma is very strong: honey and rosemary. Flavor is moderately sweet with honey notes, somehow crispy. Body is oily and with some yeast sediment. Carbonation is low and the end very short.

Bottle 0.33l from Beerville Beer shop Belgrade Serbia.Ciao Vlada! Pour it hazy dark amber color with small white head.on the nose Belgian Stew or as Alberto said Carbonade.Taste and aroma of malt, thyme, rosemary, some honey, mustard? Ok interesting but not good complexed.

roldano (157) - - MAR 29, 2015
