sample at mondial de la bière 2015, mtl. hazy very pale yellow glowing straw pour with a small white cap, creamy and leaving nice lacing. gently smoked tender wheat, peppery soft bran, pale pils, white wine grapiness, floral citrus, sulfur. average carbonation, light body; tart-ish wheatiness, lightly astringent and woodsy-sulfuric-grassy finish. funky smokiness. much enjoyed!

Au festibière de Gatineau. Blonde très pâle et trouble. Très légère. Fumée présente mais loin d'être agressante. Un citronné. Finale sèche. Bien.

Drank on tap (10 oz) at the brewpub on October 5, 2014. Hazy blonde, medium head. Smoked wheat aroma, some fruitiness. Dry wheat taste with some smokiness, nice light herbs notes, light bitterness. Smokey and refreshing, well done!

On tap at the brewpub. Clear pale gold pour with thin lacy white head. Aroma is wheaty, light woody smoke, nice lactic lemony character, very bready, malty. Taste of soft doughy wheaty notes, lemon like citric acidity, and just a hint of smoke. Palate is very light and very dry, light carbonation. Very easy to drink, super balanced gratzer that I could drink day in and day out.

My Bottom Line:
Dry, wheaty and smoky, this balanced Grätzer remains quenching and approachable throughout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam laces well atop the cloudy white.
-Citrusy angles are tasted.
-Tiny, prickly bubbles add a mineral effect.
-This drinks very nicely; the smokiness is present but not overwhelming.

On tap at the brewpub.

[5437-20130531] Sample. Light smoky ham and petrol aroma. Clear, yellow body with a quick foamy white head. Petrol straw and smoky ham flavour. Medium body. Interesting to sample. (7/3/6/3/13) 3.2

In short: An unusual wheaty and slighly smoky blonde beer. A must-try.
How: Tap at Montreal Mondial 2013.
The look: Clear yellow-blonde body toped by a small white head.
In long: Nose is like a slightly smoked charcuterie bratwurst, I shit you not. Body is slim but not watery with an appropriate soft carbonation. Taste is wheaty, a bit of smoke, a mild acidity, probably other stuff, but the bratwurst was so mindboggling that all I could taste was a slightly a smoked charcuterie bratwurst. I’m dead serious. Never wrote that in a beer rating, may never write it again. Original to say the least. Certainly the most original beer I had at the Mondial 2013 beer festival, and if I ever get arrested after a beer festival for public intoxication I’m pretty sure I would ask the officer if I can get one rating instead of one phone call.
