On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with a medium sized white head. Soft citrus on the nose, a touch of toast. Medium bodied, a hint of sweetness right away, then moves toward toast and a touch of bitterness. Crisp into the finish, long earthy grapefruit bitterness, but that lightly sweet edge lingers.

On tap at La Succursale. The color is a hazy honey with a very thin head. The aroma is already bitter of hops plus some sweetness. The taste is also bitter as a bitter should be. The ingredients are as above plus some herbal feel to it. I want to try it again because it still had a bit of water in the bottom.

Pint at the brewpub. Clear blond pour with creamy white head. Aroma is floral, grassy hops, earth. Taste is clean and discrete bitter hops, chewy biscuity malts, honey sweetness, earth. As far as authenticity goes, I don’t have any England experience, but it is definitly a superior example of the style but not quite Albion level. A little sweet but highly drinkable nonetheless.

Malts croustillants avec une touche gazonnée, florale et d’agrumes pales. Buvabilité évidente, bonne alternative à la petite côte.

Drank on tap (12) oz at the brewpub on May 12, 2013. Blonde straw, thin head. Aroma of sweet cereal, notes of green herbs. Taste bitter green herbs, but very dry, watery bitterness. I would try it again, I think there was too much water in the glass!

In short: A moderately hoppy thirst blond ale. Superb thirst quencher
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a very small white head
In long: The delicate nose has inviting notes of leafy, grassy, lemony and grapefruity hops. Very nice malt extraction here, crispy clean and crunchy with a dry baguette sensation. The little sweetness coming through tastes like a slice of lemon pie with plenty of crust. Mild bitterness that is a bit dry yellowed grass, a bit grapefruity, a bit tropical fruits. Mouthfeel is really spot-on with lots of soft bubbles, the type of beer you really want to hold in your mouth before swallowing. This is an uber-super-mega clean beer. The brewpub’s description says it’s a English inspired bitter, but to me it is more like a low-abv APA. A perfect execution in the art of simplicity, as a below 5% thirst quencher this really gets the job done. Enjoyed this fine refreshing beer during a nice sunny after-noon on front patio of La Succursale, there’s nothing like having the sun in your eyes, the wind blowing your hair, your wife making you conversation and a nice refreshing beer to make me forget how the three first things are annoying.

My Bottom Line :
Citrusy, leafy hops spruce up crunchy cereals balancing out the flavor profile until an herbal bitterness seals each sip.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam tops the misty blond.
-The hop profile is bright and engaging.
-Drinkability is high, even if the malt presence could be a tad smoother.
-This would be awesome naturally carbonated, on cask.

On tap at the brewpub.
