COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal product is the worlds only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

33 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear ruby-mahogany with a large, fluffy light tan head. Aroma: Strong, almost pungent fruity malts, maybe a touch vegetal or something?, caramel and brown sugar, the vegetal note is kinda like boiled brassica (cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli), dark dried fruits, sweet smelling, an interesting mix of really rich malts and that odd badness. Palate: Medium body, somewhat loose effervescence. Flav.: Some bright fruitiness, plenty of caramel, brown sugar and molasses, thankfully almost no vegetal note, quite sweet, some alcohol comes through, a touch spicy, quite nice; sweet with minimal bitterness and a warming alcohol and sticky sweet malt finish.

Decent.

75cl traded bottle a little less than a year old. The aroma and flavors are sweet at first, the middle is seriously watered down and then it finishes with some light bitterness. Its not bad, just thin.

Een aangename verrassing! Roodbruin, wat caramelkleurig bier met lichtbruine kraag. Geur is zoet, warm, kruidig en ietwat houtig. Smaak caramel, mout, rood fruit, kruiden. Goede verhouding zoet en bitter en de juiste hoeveelheid koolzuur. Mijn favoriete bokbier tot nu toe.

Dark amber brown colour, tan head. Aroma of malts, caramel, raisins, fudge, dried fruits. Somewhat alcoholic in the nose. Flavour is sweet malty with a coarse roasty bitterness coming through. Somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Lingering taste, in the finish the residual sweetness manages to find balance with the roasty bitterness, sort of like cocoa.

Mahogony brown, clear body with small head but lots of lacing. Toast, raisin, butterscotch and cheese. Quite a nice aroma, definitely not too sweet. Taste is good as well, light sweet flowing into light bitterness. Very end has a clear dry, cocoa-like feeling. Taste lingers... nice! Carbonation is fine. Maybe not terribly complex but tasty and very well brewed. Was very skeptical of a trappist bok but they earned a good rating. (33cl bottle, 1,75 EUR)

2008 (?) vintage [email protected]: bottle says good until 2010, minus 2 years is usually the standard around here, it does smell vintage, dark mahogany with a ruby hue & tanned head, slightly sweet with sweet dark fruit and creamy, bready malts, slight caramel, toffee, slight brown sugar, hint of roast, some hops, the taste opens up a bit halfway before the finish to reveal some slight odd sourness mixed with berries, I do feel a bit like the aging might have weakened it, could have used it a bit thicker, sweeter and without the slightly odd sourness but then again that might just be the nature of this beer

750ml Bottle with cork. Cork pops of, releasing damp and giving off a huge aroma off spices and ripe fruits. Nice and sweet malty aroma, some yeast. Bit of alcohol also. Looks are appealing, ruby red, brownish colour with creamy tanned head. Flavour is full, well balanced. Starts off creamy and malty, then releasing some bitter roastiness tones and aftertaste has some ripe, sweet fruits. Really nice.
