"Discover this genuine dark Trappist beer with a gentle flavour, creamy head and pronounced bouquet.
La Trappe Dubbel has a deep brown colour and attractive beige froth. The use of caramel malt gives it a gentle aromatic caramelised quality. It has a rich malty flavour with a touch of sweetness. Post-fermenting La Trappe Dubbel is a smooth drink, and yet has some real body and intense flavour to it.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2013 Nice double. Deep brown colour, tiny brown head which diminishes quickly. Aroma is sweet with some herbs. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, raisins. Medium sweet finish. Full body. Definitely a good balance between sweet flavours and malt.

a bottle at the Cafe Bastille. Aroma: oxtail soup, bread. Appearance: opaque dark brown, 5mm. tan head dissipating rapidly. Palate: full-bodied and thick, lively carbonation, long and complex malty finish. Taste: heavily bitter, lacks the sweetness of the tripel and is better for it, vanilla notes at the finish. Great beer.

Wow, I was happily surprised to find this beer at L’autre oeil. Very impressive beer for a dubbel, best in class.

almost black color with beige head, but head retention isn’t very strong. smells roasted malts, molasses, burnt sugars and slight banana (like all other la trappe styles). taste is a bit sweet. medium bodied and overly carbonated. clean aftertaste. I would love this more if there is more abv and dryness.

Pours a semi clear brown body with a beige frothy head. Aroma of berries, spice and yeast. Taste is decently sweet with crispy yeasty notes and fruity nuances.

Robe brune aux reflets rubis avec une fine mousse blanche pour des arômes de bonbon, de figue, de raisin sec et d'épices. En bouche on retrouve des saveurs sucrées et caramélisées avec des notes de malt, de raisin sec et d'épices. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
