"Discover this genuine dark Trappist beer with a gentle flavour, creamy head and pronounced bouquet.
La Trappe Dubbel has a deep brown colour and attractive beige froth. The use of caramel malt gives it a gentle aromatic caramelised quality. It has a rich malty flavour with a touch of sweetness. Post-fermenting La Trappe Dubbel is a smooth drink, and yet has some real body and intense flavour to it.

1/2 pint at de Hems. Pours deep chocolate brown, persistent tan head. Big burnt toffee, molasses, fig aroma. Huge mouthfeel with lively chewy texture. Caramel, figs, port, prunes on the taste with lovely balance. Fantastic.

From 33cl bottle. Pours dark brown with medium cream foam. Aroma is caramel, dry fruits, a little hazelnut, a good alcoholic feeling. Body is medium-dense with some stickiness. Taste is relatively sweet, with just a bit of bitterness in the end. Finish is still sweet, not particularly interesting.

Bottle. Smooth and well balanced. Some pleasant esters, a bit high residual sweetness however. Presence of some dry fruit and lovely caramel. High drinkability.
