Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Copenhagen 24/2-2018. 75 cl bottle from Meny. Painting of extremely tired-looking Monk which I assume is Brother Isidorus on the label. Pours hazy amber with big white head. Settles as frothy, creamy 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Substantial lacing. Aroma is pleasant and sweet. Caramel, light roastiness and tart lemonade streak. Soft carbonation and soft, creamy texture. Flavor is quite sweet with a little roastiness. Followed by light tart bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a boozy touch. Pleasant enough - if not extraordinary - way to celebrate a 125 year birthday.

Pours brown with a caramel head. Aroma is caramel & funk. Flavour is caramel, toffee, sugar bananas. Very nice indeed. I wasn't expecting an Amber to taste so good.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2018 Pivo u flaši. Trapperi imaju čak dva Belgian Alea u svojoj ponudi.

Craftakt (314) - Hannover, Lower Saxony, GERMANY - FEB 5, 2018
Gute Mischung aus Frucht und Malznoten. Dominantes Karamell, welches die spürbare Alkoholnote gut ausbalanciert.

bdleedahl (713) - , Saskatchewan, CANADA - JAN 29, 2018
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2018 Well rounded, extremely strong and flavourful, but not harsh in an alcohol sense. Plum and bubblegum perfectly brewed to belgian style. Cafe gollem amstelatrat

BojanM (62) - Banja Luka, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - JAN 21, 2018
Srednje karbonizacije, uljane teksture.

I have found this bottle at Amstein, St-Légier. I have tried this beer tonight at Bonfol, relax during this windy weather. In my opinion, it is a regular beer but it is not the trip of my life, ok for the style, best before 06/2018 number K22L15. The color is brown/orange and a bit troubled, white foam, normal carbonation. The taste is dry for an amber, you smell directly notes of malt, caramel and at the final black licorice, yeast, some hop behind these aromas, not bad concentrated of malt, a bit watery, not bad, not great like a westmalle dubbel but it is just my own view.
