COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Deep red colour. Burnt caramel nose. Lots of burnt Christmas cake flavour but not too over powering or heavy. A great Belgium. Rated by BrewTom

Thick cloudy dark amber color with lots of activity. Frothy beige 3-4 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with mediocre legs. Flavors of apples, toffee, berries, floral banana yeast, dark grains, herbal spices. Pleasant sweet fruity feel with sharp yeast bitterness. Oily smooth almost full body with prickly carbonation. Medium to strong strength finish, with a soft lingering thick dark malty, caramel yeast, leafy herbal feel. Slightly leathery and earthy. Nice intensity, accessible. Very tasty and good balance. Refreshing yet warming, perfect for spring and autumn. Overall excellent quality craft.

Hazy copper hue under a sticky foamy ivory head. Lovely estery and light banana-ish aroma with some earthy fruity Belgian esters. Flavorful and full Trappist flavor of dusty fruity yeast esters, light pear and apricot tones, some Belgian blonde malt, and a crisp dusty yet fruity malty finish. Interesting and very Belgian, for lack of a better descriptor, with a bready kind of body.
