Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

At Map Room. Decent easy drinking Belgian ale. Some candy sugar flavor which works but almost tends to be too sweet. Serving:Tap

La Trappe makes unfailingly tasty and approachable Trappist beers, and Isid’or is every bit as authentic as an abbey ale you could pick up in Belgium. Its appearance is chestnut brown and shows an amber shade when placed in front of direct light. Aromas are malty, spicy and fruity. There’s wheat beer characteristics: banana and clove. There’s also commonplace Belgian Ale yeast notes: caramel, dark bread, and dark fruits. Fat, velvety mouthfeel. A bit of earthy hop bitterness on the finish. Excellent stuff.

Aroma, bubblegum, banana ,cinnamon, raisins dark fruits. Appearance, three or four finger thick creamy head a copper amber color. Taste, somewhat happy with mild bitterness After warming the taste developed to more Rye or grain taste. Palate, carbonated and lively. Overall, a pretty good beer seems to be stuck somewhere between a triple and a quad.
