Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Aroma is not strong but overall sweet and yeasty. Pours a coudy deep copper with a non-sustaining white head and minimal lacing. Taste is slightly sweet, with hints of bananas and spice. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, very subtle and smooth. Wild drink again.

0.33 l bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Shared with lovely Anja. Hazy amber, small off-white head, sparkling. Candy, sugar, some spice, dry fruit. Quite sweet, light skunky, yeasty, spicy. Medium body, medium carbonation, moderate lasting, aromatic sweet finish. A fine Belgian with no impressive elements.

0,33l bottle. Hazy copper colour with quickly shrinking small off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, floral notes, biscuit, banana. Taste: Sweet rich malty start with a pleasent bitter and dry mouthfeel. Well balanced. Not too sweet not too bitter and the two caracter is in harmony. Medium body with medium carbonation. Long light bitter finish. A very good and drinkable belgian ale.

33 Cl Vanuxeem

Bottle. Bronze coloured beer with a strong slightly off white head. The aroma is lightly spiced, and the flavour is quite yeasty with spice and a vinous quality. Overall an average strong Belgian ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours amber quite hazy with whitish head. Aroma of fruit, yeast esters, mild hoppy. Flavour just the same: raisins, dried apricots, belgian yeast and a little bitter. Dry finish, low/medium carbonation, medium body. Pretty enjoyable.

Fles gedeeld door Benzai. Het is amberkleurig bier met een lichte schuimkraag. Het heeft een heerlijk kruidige smaak met een zoete afdronk.
